Trafford 8 - excellent stuff from the lanky Cumbrian
Humphreys 5- out of position and like a horse that lost its jockey , hint of class though .
Worrall 5. Bovine stupidity at times , often wayward must improve .
Esteve 7- good alround show from French Canavarro
Pires 6 - Lively but sloppy from the Favela’s badboy.
Laurent 6- tough debut at the “worlds biggest club “
Brownhill 6- Tough day at the office but always wanted it.
Hannibal 7- a player you’d hate if playing for the opposition, real talent if headstrong , cult status in the offing .
Koleosho 8 brilliant solo goal and looks to have added crosses to his arsenal, encore !
Anthony 6- the good , the bad and the ugly from the Hackney trickster .
Flemming 7- technically good , strong on the ball , the kind of Dutchman we want .

Subs Sari 6
Cullen 6

Trafford 9 - he was excellent

Humphreys 7 - uncomfortable at RB but this lad is a good defender. Would like to see him at LB.

Worrall 7 - he was clearly orchestrating our defensive masterclass, but his use of the ball continues to be very poor

Esteve 7 - caught out once or twice by Leeds' nimble players on the edge of our box, but mostly good defending

Pires 6 - generally fine, but he continues to have moments of inexplicable sloppiness on the ball that puts us into unnecessary trouble

Laurent 6 - he doubled up on Solomon to good effect, but another who continues to use the ball very poorly

Brownhill 6 - got about the pitch as Josh does, but really struggled for any composure in the second half

Koleosho 8 - an outstanding goal and his finish was of the highest quality. Always a threat on the counter.

Hannibal 6 - presses brilliantly but the yellow he picked up for screaming in Solomon's face was ridiculous. He must cut that out of his game because from then on he didn't dare make a tackle and we completely lost the midfield battle.

Anthony 6 - looked to offer a threat on the counter in the first half, but couldn't keep that up in the second half when the whole team lacked any sort of composure.

Flemming 8 - this was an incredible back-to-the-goal centre forward's display, and his link-up game was brilliant. Looks a really good signing.

Sarmiento 6 - couldn't get into it, but helped us hold out defensively

We're a team of men now. That was a gutsy and disciplined away performance.

On the negative side, the lack of quality on the ball can be explained in part by the fact we're still a new team and that we were away at the toughest ground in the league, but we must work on our composure with the ball. Cullen coming in for Laurent will help with that, but the other guys have got to take some responsibility as well.

Trafford 8
Humphreys 7
Worrall 6
Esteve 7
Pires 5
Laurent 7
Brownhill 6
Hannibal 6
Koleosho 8 great composure after that long run
Anthony 7
Flemming 8 good debut and not in preferred position

Subs:
Cullen 7 the right sun at the right time
Others 6

Good first half and a Dyche like team defensive display second half. There will be plenty of games where we need to dig in and I think we can mix it up. Parker adapts to the opposition unlike VK which I like. A lot of work goes into a performance like that.

Same scores as this.

6 months ago we would have lost that game.

Real character shown. Credit to the recruitment team for learning there lesson. Thats a team of men fighting for the badge.

The only thing I disagree with KSR is your comment about Hannibal. I think our team has massively missed some aggression and shithousery

Aggression and shithousery are great. You're right that we missed it massively last season. I love Hannibal's personality and the passion he shows on the pitch, but he's got to be more subtle about it because he can't keep being taken out of the game like today.

Leave a foot in after getting the ball, give a player a little nudge when the officials are looking the other way, but don't go screaming in a player's face and nullify yourself for the rest of the game.

Six months ago we were playing sides far superior to that Leeds team, to be fair.

Trafford 9 Looked the real deal today, long may it last MoM
Humphreys 6 A bit vulnerable at times, hard to really judge someone playing out of position
Worrall 7 Our new Ben Mee possibly, slow but fearless
Estève 7 Still a lot to learn but looked steady
Pires 4 Sorry but looks slow to react to situations and not as positive as in the first game, prefer CT
Brownhill 6 Works hard but doesn`t seem to contribute too much
Laurent 6 Had his moments but looks laboured and distribution was hit and miss IMO
Anthony 6 Another who started well but faded as the game wore on
Hannibal 8 Love the energy this lad brings to the team, breaks the opposition play up well but always one tackle
away from a card, a young Kevin Ball maybe
Koleosho 8 Our biggest attacking threat and what a goal, added to a great workrate without the ball
Flemming 7 Needs a few games to get himself match fit as he faded but no wonder, good effort on his debut

Subs:
Sarmiento 6 Didn`t see alot in his short cameo
Cullen 7 Got involved straight away and personally I think he needs to start as he brings something to the
game that none of our other midfielders do
Hountondji Not on long enough
Massengo Ditto but I think he`s a handy lad to bring on with his work rate and enthusiasm

Parker 9 Has a game plan and doesn`t seem afraid to change it mid game to suit the need at the time, love
listening to his interviews pre and post-match, says it as it is

We were but I think it’s fair to say that whenever we were under the cosh we crumbled.

Today they were all over us and we stood strong.

Positives:
Great defensive shape
Players battled all game
Looked dangerous on the counter in the first half

Negatives:
Got away with it a bit in the second half. Some poor situations where they could have taken advantage
We seem to have totally abandoned our passing style. I'm ok with this, but would like to see some kind of plan as to how we build attacks. I'm ok with this for now as the players are still finding their feet.

Trafford 9* - Going to give him an extra point for that catch at the end. Good to show that he can come for a cross and bravely take the pressure off rather than just flapping.
Humphreys 5- Lost the ball a few times, looked ok playing out of position, not his fault. Is Sambo that bad?
Worrall 6. Not convinced with him so far.
Esteve 7- First minute apart, he looked solid.
Pires 6 - Did fine, got a mistake in him though
Laurent 6- Put in a shift
Brownhill 6- Got in a few key tackles and brave header at the end
Hannibal 7- Manic character
Koleosho 8 - Great goal, looked. real threat. Maybe would have got another but for Firpo's cynical foul
Anthony 6- Did ok, nothing more
Flemming 8- Giving him an extra point as it was his first game and it was a thankless task today. Reminds me of Ashley Barnes but better.

Subs Sarimento - 6 won a few key moments to wind the clock down
Cullen 7 - I'm always calmer when he's on the pitch

Trafford 9* - top stuff, the claim at the end was class
Humphreys 8 - very impressed, physicality and pace, up against arguably the best winger in the league
Worrall 7 - got away with the pen imo but otherwise did fine
Esteve 7 - wobbly first half but much better second
Pires 6 - did alright against Gnonto to be fair but need more from him on the ball
Laurent 6 - some good some really sloppy
Brownhill 7 - battling performance but need more from him on the ball
Koleosho 8 - goal was superb and his general crossing was better today
Anthony 6 - worked hard and threatened first half
Hannibal 7 - box office, probably need more control from him
Flemming 8 - 1st mins of the season, 1st game for us, looks an excellent signing, technical and physical

Cullen 6 - helped us keep the ball a bit better
Sarmiento 6 - didn’t have much involvement going forward but won a few fks
You're someone's marks I look out for as I think you see things similar to me but I thought Humphrey's looked a duck out of water all game and whilst Laurents legs seemed to go the last 20 mins I thought he covered the full backs and made some brilliant tackles in the first 60

Swap Laurent for Humphrey and I agree

Strange seeing someone the scores for our defence, that was a masterclass of grit and determination. The decent outball was the only thing missing.

From TV.

Trafford 9 - Solid goalkeeping. The joy he showed when taking that late catch under pressure was nice to see.

Humphreys 8 - Defended well overall, some good blocks. Took liberties with throw ins and continued to do so after the booking. Can’t argue with the red.

Worrall 8 - Rock solid defending which was exactly what was needed. Sloppy long passing though.

Esteve 8 - The early Leeds chance was not his fault - down to Koleosho‘s loose pass. Top defending and works well with Worrall and Pires.

Pires 7 - Defending seems improved and played his part in the clean sheet.

Laurent 9 MoM - Love the way he plays, a fifth defender. Covers holes, blocks, tackles. Even got forward in the second half. Super display.

Brownhill 7 - Worked hard as usual and helped at both ends.

Koleosho 9 - The winner. A finish and a couple of decent crosses. Now we are getting somewhere. But more then that. He worked his socks off defending too. I thought he was taken out by Meslier. If you look at the collision Meslier raises his leg and kicks Koleosho. It was his sloppy pass that led to the early scare but he tried hard to retrieve the situation.

Hannibal 7 - Pressed high and helped in the creation of chances. He’s a good energetic footballer but he needs to stop the stupidity. He will be a better player for it.

Anthony 7 - Worked diligently and helped in creating chances.

Flemming 8 - What a tough game to start with and yet he did all you could possibly ask of him - pressed, tried to create and had a bit of a goal threat. Did his absolute best. Dead on his feet when he was subbed.

Subs:

Sarmiento 7 - lots of energy, mostly defending.

Cullen 7 - steadied the ship a bit with a fresh pair of legs.

My starting point is 7 for all of them as to a man they all worked hard for the cause against difficult opponents, possibly the best in this division.

I’d seen Leeds against Sheffield Wednesday and they looked slick but their two goals were fast breaks. We never allowed them such opportunities. Forced to mostly shoot from outside the penalty area they weren’t so good.

In the first half we were brilliant. Apart from the opening sloppiness from both sides they only created one really good chance - where Gnonto (what special player he is) should really have scored. Yet we looked a threat when we went forward and despite our low possession created almost the same number of opportunities.

In the second half we weren’t so effective going forward but still defended well all over the pitch.

Overall a really solid performance with just enough creativity to win it.

From tv and a rewatch of the whole game this morning
Trafford 9 mom, very pleased to see him commanding his area for one of the first times. Hopefully a turning point in his Burnley career
Humphreys 7 playing out of position on the right and at full back, against a good winger...did well
Worrall 7 reminds me of Steve Caldwell at centre back. A bit one paced but steady away
Esteve 8 after a few early jitters another great performance
Pires 7 concerned about his positioning and marking at times, but had to work hard yesterday
Brownhill 6 none of the midfield got into the game yesterday, though he is doing a good job as captain in that he is always talking to his team mates
Laurent 6 a couple of nice passes but his lack of pace means the game passes him by. Leeds passed through our midfield too easily
Hannibal 6 all action as usual but I think Parker/Brownhill need to have a quiet word with him to direct his energy and skill into his on field and off field behaviour (I didn’t like his crowd wind up actions)
Koleosho 8 his potential is enormous, another one who needs to learn his trade. This will come with time.
Flemming 7 his first half performance was very good, but he got very little service in the second half. I would love to see him and Foster build up a partnership
Anthony 6 quiet day for him

Sarmiento 6 had to defend
Cullen 6 just happy to see him back.

A smash and grab victory in possibly our most difficult game of the season. SP is already building up the character of this new squad which is so important. Delighted to see Trafford give an overall commanding performance. The future is starting to look good.

At this stage in thus sides development, and especially in the absence of Cullen, Roberts and Foster, this was an excellent result and a decent performance - even if there is significant room for improvement.

Trafford - 9 - the kid has always been a keeper of top potential, and this sort of performance underlines that and shows really good signs of converting that potential into reality.

Humphrys - 6 - didn't look wholly comfortable at full back and offered very little in possession but stuck at his defensive task commendably.

Pires- 8 - surprised at the low marks for him - I thought he was excellent and Leeds had very little joy down our left.

Worrall - 7 - deserves great credit for the way we defended our box in the second half and I suspect he was the invisible brains behind our organisation, but several times (most obviously 3 times in the move that might have led to him giving away a penalty) his lack of pace was apparent. Hopefully as he sharpens up his reading of the game will compensate but it is a concern at times. Also seemed drawn across to Esteve's space a couple if times unnecessarily.

Esteve - 9 - another to be underestimated, for my money, by ratings to date. I thought he was imperious and more composed than many of his colleagues.

Laurent - 6 - defensively terrific (including at set plays where he kept Rodon quiet) but his use of the ball was erratic and he didn't provide the options to calm the game down he might have at times.

Brownhill- 6 - see Laurent, though in fairness it would be less his job to provide an outlet for the centre halves.

Hannibal - 6 - very decent for 30 minutes but then much quieter. Another whose passing needed a little more calmness under pressure.

Koleosho- 8 - took his goal really well, when he had chances to deliver in the first half his delivery was good and he remained a threat on the counter after the break had the quality of supply been there. Worked hard too.

Anthony- 6 - part of a sterling defensive effort on both sides but another who didn't use the ball well enough and twice in the first half he might have done better with good opportunities to score, particularly the second time.

Flemming - 8 - an excellent debut in what is for now an unfamiliar position. Nothing flashy but his movement was good, he worked hard, showed a good touch and he made good decisions. A really good signing.

Sarmiento- 6 - worked hard, showed good technique but unable to change the flow of the game.

Cullen -7 - added more composure in possession and it was no coincidence that Leeds fizzled out after he came on.

Hountondji/ Massengo - not on long enough but both contributed to us seeing the game out.

Think Parker called the game just right afterwards. Huge character and kudos to our level of organisation, grit and determination which got us the win. For the first 35 minutes we were a real threat on the counter, but after that in truth we rarely showed the composure in possession to carry that threat, at least until Cullen came on but by that point the focushad switched to drawing the sting out of the game. Lots of work to do as we head into a run of games where the onus will be on us to break things down, but this is a huge result that suggests that strong foundations are being laid.
