Flemming
What a signing this is. Had a really tough ask today, and took to it superbly. His movement is brilliant, he protects the ball and has an eye for a pass. As tough a debut you'll have, and he looked as though he'd played with us a while I thought.
Can't wait to see more of him!

Re: Flemming
If he and Foster could player together in the same forward line, that could be a bit special in the Championship.

Re: Flemming
Looks a great addition and for me, after that he keeps Foster out of the team.
Re: Flemming
Incredible to say that was his first game of the season, his first game for a new club, and was arguably out of position as well.
He just looks likely a really good, really rounded footballer.

Re: Flemming
The way he holds the ball up is sensational, similar to his compatriot Weghorst in a sense how he can cleverly play it as well as control and hold it.
First impressions I really like him.

Re: Flemming
Technically really good, something we’ve missed upfront for a while. That ability to link the play with quality.

Couldn't agree more, that little layoff out of the sky in the second half was superb. Can't wait to see him and Foster together

To say it was his first minutes of the season and only played in one game in pre-season I thought he was brilliant. Clever footballer but has the physicality and work rate to match. Really looking forward to seeing him and Foster.

You would hope that happens but Burnley as far as I can remember have never played with a proper no.10 threading balls through apart from Hendrick but he was more a presser and collector of loose balls and the occasional excellent assist.AGENT_CLARET wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2024 3:28 pmHe doesn't, he will help Foster be a better striker and score more goal's, he's what Foster needs he will play up front with Fleming right behind him

If he’d had more service second half he’d have been my MoM. Whilst we had poor touches all over the field he barely had one. Played with his head up and brought others into the action.
Love him.

V impressive debut. Held the ball, rarely gave it away, brought others into play, won free kicks. Only thing he didn't do was score
Re: Flemming
You can see he has real quality and class about him. If him and Foster hit it off with the pace and skill of our other forwards they'll take some stopping.
Really impressive debut.

Excellent debut. Some great touches, showed excellent awareness and put a real shift in. Could be dynamite with someone decent in front of him with pace.

A very good debut. Away the Leeds , playing higher up than usual, we have plenty of options to change things up now if Foster isn’t out for too long .

That's a bit harsh. Not sure if he expected to start the game but to find himself playing a lone role up front from the off with a lot of players he'd never played with before I thought his performance was at least commendable; and at the best a damned good one.LincsWoldsClaret wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2024 4:02 pmHad a decent game but poor in the air. Re: Flemming
I think we’re agreed he had a decent game, especially as you mention, he was totally out of position. I’ve seen him play quite often and he’s been a standout player in this division for a number of years. Once he’s fully fit he’ll be terrific for us.Silkyskills1 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 15, 2024 12:24 amThat's a bit harsh. In games where teams are gonna have two banks of 4, flemming in the 10 with foster will be key

Think that's why MACCA put 2 of, which you then repeated, so only 11 starters.

Agree, a proper 9 and 10, doing what all good striker partnerships do, I too can't wait to see them together, work it right they'll get a bag full in this league.AGENT_CLARET wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2024 3:28 pmHe doesn't, he will help Foster be a better striker and score more goal's, he's what Foster needs he will play up front with Fleming right behind him

Re: Flemming
A very promising debut in a slightly unnatural position (albeit one he might grow into). Technically good, calm in possession and looks like a player who makes good decisions.
I agree that he looks on paper a very natural foil for Foster playing in that withdrawn role there's also potential for a bit if rotation to allow Foster to drop into the inside left channel from where he carries the ball so well.

Foster is nothing like Vokes, and I don’t think Flemming is particularly similar to Ings, but as a more mobile partnership I’d like to see them playing togetheralwaysaclaret wrote: ↑Sun Sep 15, 2024 11:38 amThink the last pair similar to this was ings and vokes

Interesting that SP preferred to play Fleming rather than Hountonji - who is a more natural fit for that position. Perhaps he’s not impressed so far.

Regarding Hountondji vs Flemming- whilst they are both new to the club, Hountondji is adapting to a different country and higher standard of football, which takes time. Flemming isn't.
Re: Flemming
Not seen Flemming play before. According to Transfermarkt (reliable for formations), he played a considerable number of games as CF last season but with another striker alongside him.
IMO he was the obvious choice yesterday.
Inevitably incredible command of the English language for a Dutchman but also sounds to be a very intelligent lad.
Suspect he will have a big season with us.

Re: Flemming
Thought he looked a real player. Strong, good touch, intelligent. Reminded me a bit of the performance from Gyokeres when we played Coventry on the turf last.
Flemming tired in the second half for sure but a lot of our players did and he can’t be up to his full fitness levels yet. We need to manage him carefully these next few weeks if Foster is missing as don’t want him picking up an injury. Think he will be a massive player for us this season.

Fair enough, but of the various forward pairings that we have had since Vokes and Ings (and there have been quite a few), Foster and Flemming would probably be the least similar - only IMO of coursealwaysaclaret wrote: ↑Sun Sep 15, 2024 12:32 pmI haven't said anything about any of them as individuals, I simply meant as a 9 and 10, just as vokes and ings were.

Well I can't wait to find out, and the proof will be in the pudding. However I'm not splitting hairs, just glad that we actually have a proper 9 and 10 again imo, and I also think both can play either, so if they can work it right they'll get a bag full.nil_desperandum wrote: ↑Sun Sep 15, 2024 12:35 pmFair enough, but of the various forward pairings that we have had since Vokes and Ings (and there have been quite a few), Foster and Flemming would probably be the least similar - only IMO of course

Re: Flemming
A further point on Hountondji- I think it's more significant that Parker trusted him to come on and help us see the game out when he had the option of Rodriguez on the bench, than it is that the more experienced Flemming started ahead of him.claretspice wrote: ↑Sun Sep 15, 2024 12:02 pmMuch more on common with Rodriguez and Wood actually I'd have said.

I might be wrong but 6 plus 4 plus 1 used to be 11, and football teams get to start with 11...summitclaret wrote: ↑Sun Sep 15, 2024 11:14 amIt'd be great but we would have 12 men. We have to choose between Hanny and Browny.
