Some great tracks here - The Musical Box is one of my favourite Genesis tracks.

Grendel doesnt count as an album track as its not on an album - b side to the 12 inch Market Square Heroes. For Marillion i think The Wwb hits 10 mins.

I'd add Close to the Egde from the same album (Yes), and I think Victim of Changes by Judas Priest is close to 10.

Good shout for Pictures of You - its actually about seven and a half (which is quite surprising) The Same Deep Water as You from the same album is almost 10 ans is a belter (like every track off Disintegration).
Also maybe Sealand from OMD's Architecture and Morality

Pink Floyd - A saucer full of secrets . At 11 minutes it’s quite short by Floyd standards. Gets a bit lost in the middle but the ending is sublime.

No Captain Blackadder pun intended.

My favourite piece of music ever. Simply sublime. There is a section of it where all the band, including Anderson on vocals, seem to be playing differing things but it gels magnificently. Also the most pompous ending ever but petering out to the Anderson vocal. Still play it regularly almost 50 years on.
Incidentally I don’t know if you have heard it but there is a great live version on the Keys to Ascension album.

We were short listed to support them on a tour but we didn’t get the gig. Couple of our guys knew the keyboard player cos they were from Whitehaven, as were three of our band.

My favourite long album tracks are echoes and shine on you crazy diamond by Pink Floyd both of which have been mentioned above.

My favourite long track which I haven’t seen mentioned is Starless by King Crimson (12 minutes plus) from the album “Red”.

Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb (possibly the best guitar solo ever) https://youtu.be/vi7cuAjArRs?si=k3fq6uhHgWIwry5i, High Hopes, and Sorrow, from the Pulse live album
Deep Purple - Space Truckin' from Made in Japan.
Tchaikovsky - Piano Concerto #1
Bruck - 1st Violin Concerto
J S Bach - Toccata and Fugue (try Emerson, Lake and Palmer's version too)

Have seen him a few times, a couple quite recently one with a Blues band, and the other doing It Bites stuff. You can book him to come and sing in your house too (although it needs to be a big house).

John Mitchell who took FD’s place in IB also plays guitar in *Frost (led by the amazing Jem Godfrey)

Black Light Machine by *Frost is worthy of this thread.

Not to mention the 10 minutes of yapping on between each song when he plays live … “get on with it for Pete’s sake”

I used to be in a Springsteen tribute band (in fact I’ve been in two) although not a massive fan myself, as a guitarist what used to annoy me was that he employed a couple of excellent guitarists but still insisted on playing lead on some songs, and tbh they are a bit rubbish, and what’s worse is that I had to mimic it!
Just let Nils play it.

Mind you I shouldn’t knock him because he’s made a darn site more money out of it than I have or ever will.

I went to see BS (under duress) and that his my take entirely- you've got one of the (arguably) top ten guitarists and you don't let him play. All bloody keyboards and saxes.
Then BS stands there on all his posters with his tele strapped on.
Guitar band- no, they're really not. And not for me.

We appear to have used up the obvious choices from yes and rush, given that my personal rush favourite "natural science" falls short by 44 seconds, but can I add to the lidt:-
Green grass and high tides - the outlaws
Whirlwind - Austin young band (not timed it)
Stars - the frequency
The narrow margin - iq, and for those of you voting for some of the prog rock tracks above that haven't heard much iq, then please try it ( but not the last album as it's lost its way/awful)
And if we are allowed classical material, then
Concerto pour 7 instruments - Frank Martin
A colour symphony - Arthur bliss
Four sea interlude - britten

Not 10 minutes but I always remember it being the longest track on the album and much longer than you usually get for a Bowie track.
So much to digest in the track - crazy lyrics as per usual !!….but great key changes, guitar solos etc
I think you might mean "Sweet thing/candidate/Sweet thing reprise"? Great song ...also love we are the dead on the same album.
