Kris Kristofferson - Gone
Kris Kristofferson - Gone
A gut wrenching loss. A man of my youth, who helped me make through nights and have me good times. I knew how he felt on a Sunday morning.
I have his records, I sang his songs. I saw him in Oxford, when he was on tour with a young Rita Coolidge, with whom he was cuddling up.
A big hole.
Thank you Kris.

R.I.P Kris, great singer, songwriter and actor. My favorite song of his is Help Me Make It Through The Night, I particularly like this version by Tammy Wynette - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aX7DPykzyaQ

The highwaymen were a superb supergroup, their best offering being the above posted by CF73.

Convoy is one of my all time favourites, such an iconic film and great soundtrack.
Anybody remember his part in 'Girls Night' with Julie Walter's which was filmed around Rawtenstall. The word 'Rawtenstall' coming out of his mouth will always make me laugh.
RIP

Came to appreciate his work, film and music, in latter years.
A person should be revered for writing "Help Me Make It Through the Night".

This one helped in in hospital, many years ago. I am not a God man, however, this moves me.

Great talent whether it was singing, song writing or acting. "Me and Bobby Magee" live on stage with his super group The Highwaymen is a brilliant rendition. A sad day.

Re: Kris Kristofferson - Gone
What a life KK lived . I’d no idea he’d been an army helicopter pilot , not to mention a golden gloves champ . Pretty sure he was still playing live upto Covid too .
Always loved the story of him in A star is born with Streisand . She’d been moaning to the director that KK was starting on the beer and tequila chasers too early etc . Anywar in the hot/bath tub scene KK decides to liven It up a bit…. He’s sat in the tub waiting for prudish Bab’s in her “double skin “swim suit and covered up below . Bab’s slides in and shooting starts .. Streisand then goes apeshit when she finds KK not only bollock naked but fully erect!
RIP

Saddened waking up to this news today. Oxford Degree. Boxer, Helicopter pilot, actor, singer / songwriter the guy lived his best life.
I shall watch The Highwaymen Live at Nassau Colosseum 1990 again tonight. Me and Bobby Mcghee at this gig is sublime not to mention Sunday Morning Coming Down.
RIP KK and thanks for the legacy you leave behind.

Sadly, he lost about ten years, as they thought he had dementia. Turned out he had Limes disease and got better when that was treated.AlargeClaret wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2024 3:45 pmWhat a life KK lived . Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and Kris all together. Top billing.

This became a staple of Elvis's live performances in his later years ...IanMcL wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2024 1:30 pmThis one helped in in hospital, many years ago. I am not a God man, however, this moves me.

Kristofferson was just a brilliant songwriter ... " Sunday mornin' coming down " , " Me and Bobby McGee ", " Help me make it through the night " and " For the good times " for starters .. He was modest about his own abilities, especially regarding his membership of the " Highwaymen " group ..
" I just look around and there's Willie, who wrote " Crazy " for Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash, who's like the Godfather of Country music, and Waylon Jennings, who played guitar for Buddy Holly, and think to myself, who let the janitor onstage with these three ? " ...

Only an extremely intelligent, modest man, could compose a sentence like that! Highest praise for your 3 pals and extreme modesty yourself- and yet that highest praise and their wanting him with them, immediately restores his own greatness.Clarets4me wrote: ↑Fri Oct 04, 2024 12:09 pmHe was modest about his own abilities, especially regarding his membership of the " Highwaymen " group ..

Just about everyone of his songs has a real, deep meaning and his use of words and phrases make him both a poet and a prophet, to coin one of his songs.
