Congratulations to Belle Vue British Champions with four races to spare.
Re: Speedway League Playoff Final Second Leg
Belle vue peaking at the right time of the season! Shame it was over so quick in the 2nd leg and we didn’t get a closer final. Well done Belle vue

Re: Speedway League Playoff Final Second Leg
Yes, surprised me thought it would end a lot closer. I expected Belle Vue need that lead in Leicester tonight. The Aces have had a fantastic end to the season tbh I didn’t think they looked as strong this season (with the obvious exceptions) and did not really fancy them for either the semis against Sheffield or the final before tapes up.

I haven't been to speedway for many years. Belle Vue Aces were a top team, even then.
I used to watch Reading Racers. Anders Michanek was number 1 and World Champion.

Re: Speedway League Playoff Final Second Leg
When my dad’s job took us from Colne to Kent we started going to speedway at Canterbury (nearest league football was Gillingham) and I travelled the country supporting the Crusaders. Remember Anders Michanek and once we travelled to see Ivan Mauger ride at Ipswich - sadly we were delayed in traffic and he fell and broke his leg in the first heat. Canterbury’s arch rivals were Eastbourne Eagles and the hatred was as tense as the one we have with the Bastards ! Sadly Canterbury was closed down after a long running battle with one local resident who complained endlessly about the noise - great shame as there was never any trouble between supporters.

I was a Halifax Dukes fan, when they were at The Shay. It was always a big night when Belle Vue were in town (Peter Collins?) and I used to love the trips over there, fairground and all.

I used to go as a youngster to Odsal - Bradford Dukes had some great riders back in the 80’s / 90’s. Havelock, Tatum, Wigg, Smith. Also got to the world final at Odsal in 1990(?)dougcollins wrote: ↑Fri Oct 04, 2024 10:52 amI was a Halifax Dukes fan, when they were at The Shay. For someone that’s never been into motor sports, I really enjoyed the speedway.
Was Carter racing when you watched Halifax? I never saw him but from what I’ve been told, he could have been a multiple world champion, if not for his madness (on and off the track), although perhaps without that he wouldn’t have been as good as he was.
