Super League play-offs

Post by Stalbansclaret » Sat Sep 28, 2024 8:44 am

Great game last night at Salford with Leigh’s quality ultimately telling after they had to withstand a lot of pressure in the first half. Edwin Ipapa , their PNG international, is some player.
Josh Charnley,Leigh’s star winger, was stretchered off and taken to hospital in a neck brace after a freak injury . Really hope he is OK.
St Helens at Warrington at teatime today which normally would be a tough one to call but it’s hard to see past a home win this time I think. Been a weird, injury-hit season for Saints.
Wigan and Hull KR await in the semis ….these games are great sport, full of intensity and skill.

Salford v Leigh was hard, old fashioned rugby league. Tough tackling with few frills but Leigh’s 2nd half performance got them over the line. Not an easy watch though.

Warrington v St Helens an excellent exciting game, finished 22-22 after 80 minutes then Wire won it with a drop goal. Classic no nonsense rugby league much better than the Friday night gruntfest.

Yes,a great game to watch. Looking forward to the semi finals next week. Think Wigan and Hull KR will progress ,but I'm not ruling out a Warrington or Leigh win if the top two aren't on their game.

Fantastic first semi-final just ended with Hull KR just edging out Warrington 10-8 at a packed Craven Park. After being 10-0 down at HT Wire came back stronglyy with two tries from their winger Matty Ashton but paid the price for missing both , difficult, conversions. Great game.

A brilliant game StAlbans,I thought Warrington deserved to win. What did you make of the try decision in the first half. My personal opinion was he should have said no try then referred it up to the video ref. Thought Warrington were hard done by. 🤔

Depends what the ref actually saw I think. It’s fine margins. Warrington missed both conversions plus the late try-saving ankle tap on Ashton (who is a superb winger). Great sport and both teams have been a credit this season.

Yes a good tight rugby league game, referee unwise to award a try, no-one could see the grounding, Ashton a star winger but missed conversions cost Wire the game.

5pm kick off for Warriors and Leopards tonight. Should be another cracker. Leopards will be hard to beat.

Just on our way to the Piedome for the second of a derby double header. Hopefully this’ll be a better match!!
