Re: Obafemi
I didn’t care for him much but, hardly having any strikers that can score, perhaps we should have kept him.

Dara Costello scores for Stanley again, 2nd game in a row.

Re: Obafemi
Agreed, curious decision to loan him out but perhaps he just wanted to be down south and closer to where he's from.cockneyclaret wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2024 3:58 pmI never understood why we loaned him out considering we have no one available that can score or look like scoring
Re: Obafemi
The last few games has demonstrated that we're struggling to score, Foster way off the pace, Flemming is rusty and some way from full fitness, Jay Rod is no longer up to it, Koleosho most likely best at left wing but playing predominantly on the right and is pretty raw looking. Recalling Obefami would be a positive step if contract small print doesn't prevent that. He was signed by Kompany, spent some time injured, I saw him make a substitute come back at the Emirates last Nov and then he quietly disappeared again soon after. We've yet to see what he can offer.
Re: Obafemi
Would be the best striker at our club right now if he stayed, strange to let him go when Foster offers nothing, Jay Rod is semi retired and Hountondji isnt even as good as Costelloe

I don’t even know who Hountondji is, or whether I’ve seen him play?

Re: Obafemi
I didn't understand the decision at the time, thinking we had over a week to bring in a replacement which never happened and therefore meant that Jay Rod kept his place on the bench ahead of a player who is 11 years younger and farmed out on loan.
If we had Obafemi to come off the bench, he is a genuine replacement for Foster who can definitely be termed as an "impact sub"
Its a strange one, although he could be one who wanted to leave or we didn't want him because of the Millwall disciplinary issue, although in both circumstances you would think he would have been sold not loaned?
The basic question is ..
Can he add more to the team/squad than what we have currently?
IMO its a definite YES and we should be doing everything in our power to get him back as we currently have zero options if Foster and Flemming get injured.
Our current 3 centre forward options are:
Foster
Jay Rod
Hountondji
Now that is not a promotion winning line up never mind a title winning one.

I don't understand why we bought him.
Re: Obafemi
I'd be surprised if those three got 20 goals between them this season is it 1 goal between all 3 in 9 games so far?billyhamilton82 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 06, 2024 9:06 pmI didn't understand the decision at the time, thinking we had over a week to bring in a replacement which never happened and therefore meant that Jay Rod kept his place on the bench ahead of a player who is 11 years younger and farmed out on loan.

Jay Rod should have gone he's well past it, Hountondji I'm not sure if Pace made the signings or was advised by VK as it was previously agreed but he just looks so poor technically.
Foster has had maybe 5 standout games in 18 months he always looks to have something but fails to deliver.
Obafemi at least has pace so could run in behind

I didn't see anything from Obafemi whilst he was here to suggest he was any better than our other striker options.

A 24 year old Obafemi is no better than a 35 year old Jay Rod who can no longer run never mind have any pace and lacks any sort of physicality to hold up the ball?
We won't mention Hountondji who can't even make the bench.

Re: Obafemi
He scored a goal. That's all.
Re: Obafemi
Checking his previous stats, Obefami scored 15 goals in 51 appearances for Swansea in the Championship prior to signing for us.I
He has pace, power and probably more output than Koleosho. The attacking aspect off the team is lacking very significantly. Based on the last few performances even a play off place is looking distinctly uncertain.
