Football Manager FM25 Delayed

Post by distortiondave » Fri Oct 11, 2024 11:48 am

Just a quick FYI as I've no doubt there are a few CM/FMers knocking around on here - FM25 is delayed until March next year, which is a bit ****.

Should just do an update for FM24 with this seasons leagues and squads and then put all the work into making FM26 release on time.

Don't play anymore, it's dangerously addictive but saw this news. It must have been absolutely crap and full of glitches to be delayed that much.
Probably a wise decision, I still remember the split with Championship Manager. That game was one of the worst games I ever played.

Championship Manager 01/02 was brilliant on the xbox. Spent far too much time on it mind.

That was peak CM. I think it might have been CM5 where sports interactive split from.them and created FM.
CM didn't last long after that, they made possibly the worst game of all time

The split, funnily enough, came about originally because of how badly Sports Interactive blundered CM4 and had to delay it until March the following year.

They've made a huge mess here, I think this would probably be ruinous for most developers. SI probably have enough goodwill in the bank to ride it out if they can deliver a good game in March

I think they've had a full change of graphics engine to try an upgrade the 3d match day experience from what I remember. Sounded like a huge piece of work and I'm guessing the matchplay was so bad they couldn't release it.

Better that than to release a substandard product probably

Now cancelled. Probably for the best, provided FM26 comes out without a hitch.

They are lucky they don't have much in the way of competition. Fm26 needs to be a hell of a game though. I'll be trying hard not to give into the temptation of buying it.

They’ve been getting away with interface changes and what are essentially squad updates disguised as a new game for years. This year they decided to move to a new graphics company I think and by the sounds of it their team are like a fish out of water. And yes I still bought every single one! I was going to stick to fm24 anyway though so as others say fm 26 needs to be good.

Civ VII next week anyway, so that takes care of spring and summer this year.

I still can't believe they announced it for pre-order back in November and took money off people.

I reckon SI were testing the water to see how many would just mindlessly order it. But alot were put off by the lack of news/announcements.

I think if they'd got enough preorders they would have just released a broken game and let buying players be the beta testers for them.

It's still available for pre-order now.

They've made a huge mess of this. They've been supposedly working on the new game in the new engine since 2025 and they seemingly have nothing.

With no competition, so much goodwill and probably with most casual fans of the game not knowing too much about it, I still think they'll be fine if they can release a 2026 version but it's not a sure thing.

Very annoying as it's always better being Burnley in the championship

I used this to update FM24 to FM25;
https://www.fmscout.com/a-fm24-to-fm25-dlc.html

It's unofficial, but safe and it works.

Is this just for PC/laptop or does it work on mobile too?

That's what Microsoft do with Windows.

They've already got a load of Beta testers as a lot of the researchers also sign up to test as well, so they can get it before it's officially released. I used to do it myself back in the day.

It would have been common knowledge that the game was broken and a huge flop before it had even been released so they'd have had huge numbers cancelling the pre orders I would have thought.
