Chernobyl

Post by bobinho » Fri Oct 18, 2024 9:15 am

Morning all…

Just settled into my third time of watching this series. I’ve watched most of the documentaries that have been put together about the disaster, culminating in the recent Ben Fogle documentary about the exclusion zone.

If you haven’t watched this miniseries, I heartily recommend you do. It’s an excellent piece of work, not just by the actors, but the directors and producers have made a riveting drama, based on witness testimonies and released papers about the management of the disaster and more importantly, the mismanagement of the huge Soviet propaganda machine.

Agreed. It started well but went a bit downhill. Would have made an excellent 2hr film.

I couldn't get past the British accents.

I might give it another go.

I thought it was very good and told a pretty straight up re-telling of this fascinating story . The Brit accents ( as mentioned above ) did take a bit getting used to . I get it’s a trend in recent yrs rather than mimicking a “ Vladimir I appear to be out offf vooddddka” cod Russian accent . Though when they did this with “ a gentleman in Moscow “ it was beyond appalling and ruined it .
