Trafford - 6 nothing to do
Roberts - 7 did what Defensive work he had to and tried to get involved at the other end.
CJ - 6 defensively fine. Zero urgency.
Esteve - 6 defensively fine. Zero urgency.
Humphries 7 did what Defensive work he had to and tried to get involved at the other end.

Cullen - 4
Brownhill - 4
Laurent -4

All in together as you can't separate them from the level of responsibility they're supposed to have, the extremely limited way they performed their role, the lack of enthusiasm and unwillingness to break the lines.

Anthony - 4
Koleosho - 4

Koleosho gets a bonus point for willing to run at his man and Anthony gets a point because his deadball delivery was decent. Anthony for what ever reason doesn't want to take on his man. Koleosho is happy to buy has zero end product.

Flemming - 4. Not really his fault. We're not utilising him, his strengths and we're leaving him isolated.

The idea, when you meet teams playing a 'low block' is that you move the ball quickly and/or employ players that will carry the ball through the lines.

We've got one man in Koleosho that is willing to break lines but with absolutely no clue or quality to do something with it once he's done that

Then the rest of them are happy to shuffle the ball amongst themselves like a squad of geriatrics. No wonder the atmosphere is dead.

the issue is, we have zero urgency. 2 wide men who both come in side. isolated forward. 3 midfielders who don't run behind the lone forward or get close enough to support.

defence fine

Trafford 7 - not much to do…
Roberts 7* - used the ball quite well all game
Egan-Riley 7 - passing was superb
Esteve 7 - sound again
Humphreys 7 - won his duels
Cullen 6 - helped recycle well
Brownhill 6 - not very useful against teams that sit in
Laurent 6 - did okay
Anthony 4 - saw plenty of the ball in good areas but did zip
Koleosho 4 - see above
Flemming 6 - would work well with a number 9 alongside

Frustrating game. First half the patterns of play were quite good, more fluidity and only some excellent last ditch defending & wastefulness from us stopped us from scoring. Second half we didn’t really build on it, we were crying out for some match winners to add some quality, a un-defendable cross or one on one skill, but they’re all injured. Imagine a fit Benson and Sarmiento (for example) with JBG central coming on, we win that game I reckon. Still we’ve kept QPR to absolutely nothing and still sit 2nd.

Enjoyed the interchanges and passing at pace. If only we had a lethal finisher!

We dominated them from start to finish and all put in the effort.

Trafford - 6 - another day where he could have had the deck chair out

Roberts - 7 - at least tried to get us going forward
Esteve - 7 - too good for this league
Egan-Riley - 8* - his best game to date. How your centre back can be your most creative player is staggering.
Humphries - 6 - solid enough

Cullen - 5 - backwards and sideways, with the occasional sideways and backwards
Laurent - 6 - made lots of good runs first half, stopped making them second half because, let’s face it, what’s the point?
Brownhill - 3 - an absolute nothing performance

Koleosho - 3 - absolutely dire.
Flemming - 4 - let’s be right - a striker he isn’t
Anthony - 3 - didn’t beat his man all day, every option he took was the negative one - backwards mainly

Pires - 4 - a nothing substitution
Jay - 4 - why not play him down the middle?
Agyei - 4 - I’m praying they’re 2 nervy sub appearances - if not, bring back Costelloe….

I just don’t get it. QPR were absolutely woeful. Nobody trying to break the lines, no pace in our play, possession football for the sake of it. Teams have sussed us - let them have it in their own half and sit deep. Nobody’s coming through. No bodies in the box, no attempt to do anything different. Crying out for Jay to come on as a number 9 - and he played anywhere but that position. SP seems more stubborn than SD. Injuries not helping but who’s going to change it anyway? Redmond at a push. Is Tresor ever going to be fit? Manager takes Most of the blame for that today - negatively poor, no wonder there’s no atmosphere - it’s crap to watch

No idea why we went with the more defensive option of Humphereys at left back at home to a team that's second from bottom. Pires would have at least offered a bit more in attack, and we certainly needed it.

Same story really. Defensively solid, midfield can compete but is a bit plodding / short on creativity and we've got real problems going forward. It's hard to see where the goals are coming from.

Trafford - 6 Nothing to do all game apart from a couple of clearances and made a pigs ear of them.
Roberts - 7 He tried to be proactive but had very little around him
Egan-Riley - 7 Had a good game and dealt with the small amount of defending very well.
Esteve - 7 Lad is head and shoulders the best player in this team. Hopefully hang on to him until the end of the season.
Humphreys - 6 Steady but his attacking instincts are lacking.
Koleosho- 4 Headless chicken.
Laurent - 6 Started as I wanted him to as the attacking midfielder with the runs in behind but faded. Still think he’s the 1st name on the midfield team sheet.
Brownhill - 4 Unsure what position he’s been asked to play. Does go hiding for me.
Cullen - 3 Harsh I know but, IMO, he strangles the team in possession. Not even remotely the player we had in the Championship 2 seasons ago. Got to leave Mr. Crab out
Anthony - 7 Probably our biggest threat.
Flemming - 6 Not a CF. Drop him back in his most comfortable position and I’m sure we’ll see the best of him.

Even though we are 2nd we are not a great a team. I think it shows the lack of quality in this division. You would hope that some of the injured players can come back in and make a difference to us because the best I am expecting with this current fit squad is an outside chance of a play off spot.

Trafford 5 (nothing to bar some local park style rubbish kicking!)
Roberts 6
CJER 7 (looks a good player and as well as defending comfortably, he played more than one great cross field pass)
Esteve 6
Humphreys 6 (strangely for a left back, he got the best chance of the match..... and missed it!)
Cullen 6
Brownhill 5
Laurent 6 (tried really hard to break their lines throughout the whole game)
Koleosho 4 (flatters to deceive!)
Anthony 7 (excellent first half, but faded after the break sadly)
Flemming. 5 (no better than Foster today!)

Subs
Ageiyi 5

Another game which was crying out for JBG after 65 minutes sadly. QPR totally disinterested in scoring or winning and us far too predictable and pedestrian to make them pay. As a one off in a promotion push you'd take it and move on, but it's not a one off, it's becoming the norm. This team doesn't look anywhere near good enough to finish top two atm, but we're just 12 games in, so there's loads of time. Let Parker take stock and see what needs tinkering. He's got two automatic promotions on his CV so let's give him credit for knowing what our issues are.(For now!)

Awful. Beyond awful. Mind numbingly painful. I can't take much more of this. We look like a bottom 6 team, not a top 6 team. I don't know where we go from here if Parker thinks today was acceptable in any way, shape or form.

Trafford ??? No point him being there.
Roberts 6 fine
Esteve 7 love him, but he must regret staying.
Egan-Riley 6 fine
Humphreys 5 so defensive
Koleosho 7 his best performance in weeks, no great compliment
Cullen 3 was he asleep?
Brownhill 3 was he playing??
Laurent 6 our best midfielder, not a great accolade
Anthony 6 meh
Flemming 3 not a no.9. Any reasonable manager would see that. Just not Parker

Parker 3 just sack him.

QPR possibly the worst team at Burnley for many years so it speaks volumes that we didn't have the nous to break them down.

Trafford 6 could have sat on a deckchair
Roberts 7
Humphries 7
Esteve 7
Egan Reilly 7
Cullen 6
Brownhill 6
Laurent 6
Fleming 5
Kolesho 6
Anthony 6

Subs 5

Thought we moved it well first half and even with 9 corners our final ball and finishing continues to be inept. The 2nd half got progressively worse as subs came on and any game plan was abandoned.

Everything but the win. If we'd found the net today, people would have been oozing about that performance.
Same result as PNE, but a world of difference in performance.
Laurent excellent again, but he also helps Cullen and Brownhill look better. He has to stay a starter.

If we continue to play like today we'll be right.

Convert one or two chances today and it’s almost the perfect performance. We definitely lack some quality in the last third, but I’m not panicking and won’t be booing as long as we are in the top two.

Trafford 6
Had nothing to do.

Humphreys 5
He's not a full-back. His passing is slow and sometimes not accurate. He's never willing to take any risk and that really slows down our build-up. So far he hasn't impressed me. Looks like an average Championship player. Certainly not like someone who's worth north of 10m.

Esteve 7 MOTM
Class as usual and too good for this league.

Egan-Riley 7
Getting better and better.

Roberts 7
His best game in a while. Worked hard and tried to move us forward. Unlucky not to score.

Cullen 5
He's invisible in this system.

Brownhill 6
Too quiet.

Laurent 7
Probably the best midfielder yet again. Should be his spot to lose from now on.

Anthony 6
Seen a lot more of the ball than usual but didn't do much with it.

Koleosho 5
Awful. Zero end product.

Flemming 5
Not his day.

Every sub 5, except Pires who gets 6. Done more in two minutes than Humphreys did all game.

Parker 3
Boring and predictable. We won't have the luxury to say we're second for much longer if something doesn't change quickly.

I thought Kolesho was a lot better today a couple of decent crosses and noticeably got his head up and passed the ball better. Before kick off he was being put through his paces by the coaches so wondered if it was a late fitness test. Still think he’d be more effective through the middle,

Good first half where we were played with a bit of tempo and urgency, but a second half that was back to what is commonly being termed Parkerball. Slow, tepid, uninspiring stuff just bereft of anything that gets you excited about the football.

Imagine a fit Benson and Sarmiento (for example) with JBG central coming on, we win that game I reckon.
Imagine is the best we can do for Benson and JBG.

Not pressing the panic button yet, but in hindsight I wish we'd have cashed in on Foster and Koleosho and kept Amdouni and JBG.

Regarding us as a team, I feel we are finding our way. Today was more like the games two years ago where we dominated with lots of possession and created quite a few chances. The problem is we don't have an in-form Zaroury and a lethal Tella (with Benson off the bench) at our disposal. We are criminally lacking in forward areas, hopefully the injured 6 attack-minded players show signs of getting back in the squad soon as we desperately need backup. Koleosho is woefully out of form and need time out of the side. Unfortunately we have no one ready to come in for him.

Today was not boring...it was frustrating

Trafford 6
Roberts 8 Thought he was superb today and showed genuine urgency (wish others would've)
Egan-Riley 8 - His bes game for us. Pinged some lovely passes out wide and broke the lines on occasion
Esteve 7 -Good game once again
Humphreys 6 - As others said, this game was crying out for Pires. Looks a lot more comfortable on the left.
Cullen 6 - Did ok, not sure the posters giving him 4 were on drgs during the game or something?
Laurent 7 - We look a better team with him in it
Brownhill 5 - Needed more from him today.
Koleosho 4 - GO ON THE OUTSIDE FOR ONCE!!!
Anthony 5 - Mixed bag. Needs to show a lot more urgency and not take the easy option all the time.
Flemming 5 - Not is position, but could hsave contributed a lot more

75% possession - 22 shots - 700 passes - 16 corners

Although this league is poor, there are also not many mugs either.

What I will say is that Foster is better in the lone number 9 position than Flemming is (which isn’t his fault, by the way)

What was utterly baffling was when Rodriguez came on and started playing wide right, obviously under instruction. He then proceeded to play the rest of the game behind Flemming, which was even more perplexing.

Never give scores, but actually thought that we played much better today.
It's not easy to score in open play when a team packs the defence like today, but we won 16 corners. Under Dyche we would have created good chances from these and probably found a goal or two, in fact most teams in the Championship would hope to score at least 1 in 16.
We look even less like scoring from set-pieces than we do in open play.
All the players were 6s or 7s today, but it's a 0 for our set-piece coach. We show zero imagination or variety at set-pieces and thus good goal-scoring opportunities are wasted.
Parker didn't bring him to the club, and he needs to be ruthless and upgrade him.

A game of positive patterns but frustratingly little punch.

Trafford- 6 - I don't think I've seen a Burnley keeper have less to do.

Roberts - 8 - really excellent in the first half, playimg almost exclusively in that inverted role, with lots of inventive movement and plenty of composure. Decent after the break but one of many to start forcing it.

Humphrys- 6 - a couple of shaky moments but broadly sound defensively. He was composed in possession but perhaps not as dynamic or penetrating as we needed him to be, which QPR seemed to recognise after half time and Parker belatedly recognised when bringing on Pires.

Egan Riley- 7 - A bit lucky a lazy bit of defending wasnt punished when he allowed Chair to cut inside and hit the bar, but otherwise I thought he was excellent and showed much more confidence and ambition in his passing. His progress has been a real positive.

Esteve - 8 - utterly dominant.

Cullen- 8 - our best player on the day and the reason we dominated the midfield area and were able to play forward through the lines during his time on the pitch. No idea why he was withdrawn and unless he had a knock, for me it was the wrong call.

Laurent- 6 - a good rangy first half in which his intelligent movement and athleticism helped add an extra dimension to our attacking play. QPR neutralised the space he'd been exploiting after half time and he wasn't able to operate effectively in tight spaces.

Brownhill - 6 - a sharp first half in which he linked well with Flemming, but another to struggle as QPR left less space in the second half, although his various changes in role didn't help.

Koleosho- 7 - very good in the first half and if he was less effective in the second half, it was only because the team found it harder to give him the ball. Worked hard throughout but he needs to do more to get into goalscoring positions. The ball in the last minute that he didn't attack until far too late was a case in point.

Anthony - 6 - neat and tidy in possession and contributed lots to some attractive and effective midfield patterns, but the poverty of his final ball and shooting was frustrating. He simply has to do more in the final third.

Flemming - 7 - terrific in the first half when his link play coming short to play wall passes was pivotal to our more incisive moments. Understandably faded after the break given his lack of football before this week, and not helped by the slightly awkward shape after the subs.

Rodriguez- 5 - his brain is willing but the legs weren't quite in sync.

Pires - 6 - showed a greater ability in possession and attack than Humphrys and should have started, although by the time he came on we'd largely broken down as an attacking unit. His corner at the end was the best of the game and that begs another question about why he didn't start.

QPR are bottom of the league for a reason, primarily because they're not very good defensively. Against that backdrop this is a very bad result, but for 65 minutes this wasn't a bad performance and there are definite signs of progress compared to the last set of home games three weeks ago. The shape and what we were trying to do in possession was much more obvious than in those games, and we were more effective with it. The first half on particular was basically very good and gave plenty of reason for optimism.

But for all that, particularly as the secomd half fizzled oit frustratingly, it was hard to escape the conclusion the team isnt quite good enough in the final third to create chances playing the sort of football Parker appears wedded to. It doesn't quite move the ball quick enough in those areas consistently, it lacks pace from full back to provide the extra incision, it lacks a goalscorer and most of all it appears to have one too many diligent runners and at least one too few ball-playing craftsmen to unlock a stubborn defence.

Admittedly, there are extenuating circumstances. There were at least 5 players in the squad who might have added more craft but are currently injured (Benson, Sarmiento, Ramsey, Redmond and Tresor, the latter of whom we really could use on a pitch right now given hes training and we're short out wide), and we've yet to see a fit Flemming paired with a fit Foster. It was perhaps inevitable that Flemming would tire in the second half and fade, as he did, given his lack of football before 3 games this week. Koleosho also understandably faded. For all the frustrations, we are still 2nd with an emerging team. Leeds had a similar struggle at Bristol City today.

But nonetheless we need to start turning domination in these games into goals and points and that ultimately involves making the best of what we've got. If we are going to play patient possession football, then in these sorts of games starting Humphrys over Pires - who showed against Plymouth amongst other games what he can offer down the left flank - doesn't make any sense, and nor does taking Cullen off and playing the last 25 minutes with a diligent but technically underwhelming midfield of Brownhill and Laurent. Bringing Rodriguez on to play in midfield makes little sense either - what we needed was a more direct threat down the middle.

There's three quarters of the season to go and plenty of time to fix things. But many more frustrating days like today against lower end teams and automatic promotion will rapidly become a long shot.

We should have done far better against that QPR team. Build up play good in first half but just no quality or threat in the box. The tactics are so negative but certainly some ridiculous overreactions at the ground and on the message board.
