I think it will suit us.

More expectation for the home team to go on the attack, which should allow us to counter which (at the moment) is our strength compared to playing a low block.

2 big opportunities missed against quite poor sides in Oxford and PNE

Our lack of creativity and goals is a concern, so I'm going for 7 points

4 from 2 at home, 3 from.5 away.

Hopefully get in to double figures for goals scored to bring some sort of entertainment to the fans.

Wishing Parker all the very best as he's a great guy, but i don't think they'll be too many great games to watch this season.

Reminds me very much of England under Southgate

If we can keep around 2 points a game over these 7 games it will keep us in a strong position. Big task and now would be a good time to start showing we can play good football.

At this stage I'll settle for promotion football, picking up at least 2 points per game is the target. Doing it whilst playing the fancy stuff would be nice too, but I can wait.

I agree. I wouldn't be surprised if we do better away than at home this season. In addition to the points that you make, I also think that our away support will be less critical and impatient than our home "support".
Not many teams will take the Oxford approach and play for a nil - nil at home.

Probably a blessing we have more away games. The manager will get a bit more breathing space over performances if the results are positive.

Based on what we’ve seen so far and our obvious shortcomings, I’m just hoping that we can a) show some signs of developing as a team and b) stay there or thereabouts, until the January window.

Flemming being fit to have a good run in the team will help us. I do feel though that we are short both creatively and clinically.

If there’s money there, we need to bolster the squad to address these areas, unless the likes of Ramsey and Redmond will be close by then, in which case it may just need a striker.

Either way, an early in the window transfer, rather than an end of window job, would be the ideal, otherwise we run the risk of falling too far behind to be able to make it back up.

A big points haul in the next seven and some / all of the above might just prove to be nonsense!!

This is a good question. Given we have agreed to buy him regardless (and paying a decent sum!) it’s possible we ensured a clause that he can play, but not sure.

There's a spell in february/march where 5 out of 7 are at home which might come at the right time

We've let in 4 goals in 9 matches so far- including away games at Sunderland and Leeds. (Yes - we've had a bit of luck in that).

It may be that we aren't yet playing scintillating footy and creating a lot of chances but teams tend not to lose loads of points letting in as little as a goal every 2 games.

I think we may well get 10/11 from those 7 games and be in a (possibly lower) play-off spot.

Onwards and Upwards.

There’s a similar sort of imbalance in the National League. All of the sides have played 13 but second in the table Forest Green Rovers have played 4 at home and 9 away. Leaders Barnet have played 7 at home and 6 away.

It will be interesting to see if any of our returning players are included in the U21 side today, and might give an indication to their fitness levels, although I suppose internal matches can do the same.

Does that matter? I think the question is was it deliberate and did it prevent a goal scoring opportunity I have only seen it once but it looks as if it gets an unexpected bounce and just hits his arm as he is trying to pull it out of the way. Seen them given but not a pen for me, suspect 1 of them decisions that wouldn’t be overturned by VAR no matter the on field decision.

Not sure it is a certain penalty 1 that could be given I agree and I wouldn’t argue against too much if it was given. I just think the ball took a bad bounce and it hit is arm as he was trying to move it out of the way. The ball was going out of play and it wasn’t deliberate.
