"West Brom next and it has to be better than that. It must be better than that."
But will it be better than that? I have my doubts as that performance yesterday has been coming for sometime.
All the signs have been there at Hull and home to PNE and QPR as well as our struggles at home against Plymouth and Portsmouth.
Even if we are (I think) one point better after 13 games than under VK in this league we are not playing as fluently this time.

Re: REPORT: Millwall Mess
Thanks Tony, a tough day that, travel difficulties on top of dross.
Re: REPORT: Millwall Mess
Good report Tony, I think all that needs to be said has been said on this forum the past day, we all know it was another shocker. We need to move on, they owe us and themselves a good performance .....and 3 points would be nice
Re: REPORT: Millwall Mess
Good report, I got a real sense of your anger, let's face it,it's gone way beyond frustration.
I can forgive defeats, but losing with no effort shown is unacceptable and changes of attitude and perhaps personel is urgently required.

Enjoyed reading your report. “ West Brom next and it has to be better than that. It must be better than that.” Agree with that 100% but our style of play at present fills me with doubt.

A lot of comments made about how we're in a better position now, points wise, compared to the VK season. The massive difference is in the VK season with each game we got better and better and at the moment we're just glumly staggering from one game to the next.

Re: REPORT: Millwall Mess
Nice report Tony, you summed it up perfectly. It seems that the most important thing you’ve learned on this trip was the state of the traffic.
It’s a tough task watching us at the moment. I can’t see us getting out of this division any time soon with this manager. We don’t seem to have any spark or threat about us, we only seem able to play at one pace and the back pass is our default position. For all our possession only having 1 shot on target is very embarrassing. To sum it up, we have a poor man’s Gareth Southgate in charge.

Re: REPORT: Millwall Mess
Just can't compare the two. Under VK we scored goals for fun-a massive amount, and a stretch of ten wins in a row. Re: REPORT: Millwall Mess
After another dreadful performance when unusually this time there hasn’t been much of a major argument on this forum about whether it was a good or bad performance its good to read Tony’s usual balanced report but also worrying that he too thinks that at the moment that we’re pretty average.

Re: REPORT: Millwall Mess
Missed this match as currently in Australia, thankfully. Watched on TV though. We are a really difficult watch at present and cannot see it changing anytime soon.
It is unfair to heap all of the criticism on Parker, although he is responsible for a lot of our failings.
Quite simply we have recruited poorly after losing the spine of the team. We have got meh like players in Anthony, Hountondji, Laurent, Sarmiento et.al. who don’t appear to be anywhere near the standard required. With Koleosho he is like some annoying kid in the school yard who has loads of the ball and always wastes it. This guy runs up blind alleys for fun. And then we have got two seasoned pro’s like Roberts and Brownhill who should be leading by example but appear to have gone into their shells or just can’t be arsed.
Additionally, we have Cullen who is looking a shadow of his former self, probably due to playing with players of limited ability in midfield with him. We have got Hannibal who can put himself about a bit but in truth isn’t much of a footballer.
Of course we are lacking in the striker department and a fit Lyle Foster and the return of Flemming won’t make much difference with this powder puff midfield playing behind either of them if Parker persists with a lone striker.
I hope I am wrong but I cannot see for the life of me how Parker will get this team firing and competing in games. A slow slide down the division and mid table mediocrity beckons. It’s not that bad though, PNE and Blackburn have been doing this for years now.

Thanks for the report Tony, the interview that SP gave after the match he looked a beaten man.

Hard work pal! Although Friday’s game will be a lot easier, I’m usually out of bed by then. I’m in Bendigo by the way. UTC.

Re: REPORT: Millwall Mess
Out of interest, which was our shot on target? I can remember the Koleosho one against the post plus the 2 Houtondji efforts that went wide in the first half, a couple of nothing headers from Jay and Brownhill in the second half that both went over the bar plus an effort that was blazed a long way over, possibly by Koleosho. I can't remember one single shot on target.

Re: REPORT: Millwall Mess
Why was our lone striker marking in his own penalty box for their goal?
Is it any wonder we can’t score for toffee. Obviously it’s understandable if it’s from a set piece and you bring the striker back to defend but as far as I can remember it wasn’t after a set piece?

Re: REPORT: Millwall Mess
It was a set piece, recycled, hountondji was marking him all game, stupid zonal marking.KRBFC wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2024 2:20 pmWhy was our lone striker marking in his own penalty box for their goal?

Re: REPORT: Millwall Mess
We used to hear this argument under VK, why is a short player marking their biggest aerial threat. Major weakness of zonal marking is you can look for the weak areas covered by shorter players and stick your biggest player up against them. As happened on Sunday. That Cooper is a bit of a beast isn't he. And who was the sub they brought on who looked a similar height to Cooper?
Re: REPORT: Millwall Mess
You've summed it up frankly, no punches pulled, Tony.
Sadly, you're right.

Re: REPORT: Millwall Mess
We have plenty of skill. Unfortunately, we have no forward going play pattern, which ends up with players in the box wanting and waiting to score.
In the Championship, 442 works. Get it forward, lay it off, cross it, head or knock it in.
So many errors in the Championship.
The teams DETERMINED to win, rain in crosses and shots, until something gives.
We are carbon neutral thanks to all our recycling!
