The Orient Game
I have just uploaded 60+ images from the Orient game to the Civic Trust website, including many crowd pictures. See if you can spot yourself. BCTHIC.org. Search Orient.

Brilliant thank you for posting, there's one that shows the crowd on the pitch in front of the Cricket field stand that I can spot myself on ( with a full head of dark hair, full set of teeth and slim....what happened ?).
Unforgettable day.

Re: The Orient Game
I stood on the Bee Hole End - at least I usually did - and at the end of the match I never thought to go on the pitch. I wasn't elated and didn't feel like cheering. It was just a mighty relief as I expected the worst, as probably most did. It was quite incredible that everything aligned so well that we escaped relegation.
The gates to the pitch must have been opened and much of the crowd poured onto it. It often happened at the end of a season but I don't recall it on this scale. I'd never been on Turf Moor's pitch but once things settled down I went on. I walked on with fellow London Clarets and we just strolled around taking it all in.
I don't think I've ever been to Turf Moor since! My interest had completely gone, ground down by the awful football and poor team and, I presume, my aging. I wasn't excited anymore, no butterflies in the stomach etc. like it used to be when I first went to Turf Moor in 1969, and London games from 1966.
I noticed that the grass on the pitch in close-up looked quite sparse, quite understandable for pitches at the end of the season in those days. From the terracing it looked good.

Re: The Orient Game
Can't see myself on any of those photos. I am on the video of the game that was issued, near the back of the CF stand with my brother and my late friend Alfie Young. I can also spot myself on a pic taken from the CF stand at the end of the game running across the pitch. I asked Ray Deakin for his shirt which he was happily giving to me until 2 coppers took exception to this and dragged me away from him.

Re: The Orient Game
Thanks so much for uploading those. Despite rampaging round the pitch at the end and my mate appearing full length on the back page of the Daily Mirror doing the conga (my left leg is just visible)
have never seen myself on any of the pictures, until now. No49 is saved , right bang in the middle , arm up , couldn't miss myself Thanks

I'm on the 'team coming out of the tunnel' picture. I was banging on the board/ceiling that covered the tunnel as a 12 year old.
