Players taking an age to clap the fans

Post by claretlegend » Wed Nov 27, 2024 10:03 pm

At full time this season it feels likes the players are spending so long chatting in the centre circle that by the time they do a lap of applause with the fans, everyone has left! Conor Roberts was ready for clap the fans and get off in good time yesterday but had to hang on and go back to all the players who were chatting. It would be nice to have fuller stands showing our appreciation after a victory. Get a shift on lads, it's cold!

To be fair a lot had already left before the full time whistle. It seems to stem from Kompany who liked to accumulate the players together and then move as one to clap the fans starting from the Jimmy Mc and then round past the Longside and then to the CF.

Off topic but I read something last week that said Mbappe at PSG got a 200k bonus every time he went and clapped the fans.

Can't clap madrid fans as he's in Connor Bradley's pocket tonight.

That has to be nonsense, or the world has finally gone loco. He might as well throw in a 50k bonus every time he farts.

Always stay behind for 10 minutes or so & love seeing the lads & staff circling the pitch…especially when we win (even stay after a defeat) as it lets the crowd disperse & last night the team spirit & togetherness was very noticeable. Most of the crowd had left but that’s a choice for each one of us.In a perfect world a full ground would clap & cheer them off but that’s never going to happen.

I find the best solution is to leave well before they do. :)

I do the same Pete. It must be me & you left at the end.

I agree with the OP that they could hurry it along a bit so that more fans are there (sometimes they’re clapping an empty stand) but also always find it fairly disappointing that the stands aren’t fuller to show the fans appreciation after a win.

Like you, I’ll even clap them off after a loss if I feel they’ve given their all.

It’s the same away from home too. It started really with Kompany who would often take centre stage and seems to have continued that way.

I like to clap them off, but needed to dash home Tuesday so it's nice to hear about the team spirit.

Must admit i've noticed it too. At Sheff Wednesday i wanted to clap them off after a good away win and i just got fed up of waiting for them in the end.

Bump! Today was beyond a joke. I stayed to clap the players off and there was hardly anyone left! Why are they taking so long to go round and clap the fans?

Blasting out “Freed from Desire” doesn’t help and has eliminated the traditional “We Love You Burnley” that saluted a victory in days gone by.

It was rude! I am usually stuck at the back of the Longside Upper and able to happily clap. This season, I am usually at the bottom of the steps and have to wait to clap a couple.

Ladt night, they were in a big huddle and ignored the fans. Then they talk of fans support! Hmm.

It would make sense to clap the fans and then have their huddle

Parker said he kept them in a huddle because they are a young team and he wanted to let them know how super they were.
It’s about time the fans who feel they need to moan and complain about every kick do the same!!

Parker could do that in the dressing room
Can just imagine him doing a Phil Brown the next time we have a poor first half and go into the HT break losing

Don't really get why they spend an eternity hanging around the centre circle at full time. Don't blame anyone for not hanging around really.
