Very much a nothing interview.
People back on the grass but still works in progress, Lyle a few weeks away still with Aaron somewhere beyond that. Luca young and still learning but lots of potential, Traff is a great keeper, young and plenty of work still to be done, Cullen is a great bloke and a good player. We will be trying hard to win on Friday.

Foster, Ramsey = a few weeks away ( must mean new year) Benson behind them. Scott bigging up Trafford and Koleosho (hopefully not with a view to the January window) 3 centre halves getting game time. No news on Lord Lucan.

They've stopped asking the obvious question.

In many ways, what else is there?
Not going give him team or tactics. No one says anything in those interviews, except if you are not winning and then it includes 'fine margins'.
Always going to be a difficult match, as well. If he said nae bother and we didn't win...

I know some posters are tired of the question, but I think it's utterly crazy we don't have any clarity on one of our most expensive signings ever.

Think we just need Tresor out of the door now and everybody can move on. Its becoming pretty obvious we're never going to see him again.

Tony knows whats up with Tresor. Why not ask him.

Well why badger Parker when others know as well…. But refuse to say

Maybe no-one’s asking about what’s wrong with Tresor because it’s none of our business?
He’s unavailable for selection, move on.

Re: Scott Parker pre-match v Boro
It very much is our business. We are the only stakeholders that actually care about the club, so it's up to us/the media to hold the club to account for certain things.
Personally I think there should be some sort of explanation without having to go into the exact details of his illness. The club has spent around 10-15 million pounds on him and he never plays, when we are already saddled with debt.
It's irresponsible spending that seemingly has just been money down the drain, it isn't acceptable in any business really.
Also who says he's unavailable for selection, Parker hasn't said that recently.

Burnley fans have always had the capacity for weapons-grade dramaqueenery but by Christ it goes nuclear-grade when Tresor is involved.
Irresponsible spending? Cobblers. It's a failed signing that looked good on paper but hasn't come off. No more, no less. Every club makes them.
As for who says he's unavailable for selection, that would be every team sheet we've released this season without his name on it. Unless you believe that everyone else we've played this season is just a better player than him.
It all comes down to what you think you're entitled to as a fan I suppose, but for me my season-ticket entitles me to entry to Turf Moor 23 times a season and whatever comms the club decides to put out. The idea that I should be getting full medical updates on someone who looks to be clearly suffering from something more than a common-or-garden injury seems insane.

It’s a transfer that has clearly not worked out. It happens at all clubs. It’s happened at Burnley a lot less in the last 10 or 15 years than it has at many other clubs. Nobody is happy about the Tresor situation - just like we weren’t with Weghorst, Walters, Sordell, Ian Moore, Liam Robinson or however far you want to go back with dud transfers ! But there is pretty much nothing you can do as fans other than accept it.
Scott Parker and other people at the club are employed to manage the whole squad. In some cases the intricate details of individual player circumstances are better not released to fans for whatever reason.
Really no point getting upset about this after every press conference. Just do what SP is doing and focus on the players that are being selected. We are second in the league at the moment did you know ?

I imagine he will be sold on 1st January and will be playing a game for his new Turkish club within a week.
I have no reason not to keep asking questions about where he is - unless the posts doing so keep on getting deleted by those who are allowed to know more than us mere mortals

Tresor was an irresponsible transfer for one reason. We didn't need another winger. He then didn't get in team. Then got ****** off and the rest is history. Imo.

Not bothered about Trevor at all, obviously his future is elsewhere. Don’t even know if he’s any good. Absolutely no point asking Parker anymore, or indeed him answering.
It did make me look up our top 5 most expensive signings. Amdouni, Trevor, Weghorst, Trafford and Gibson.* At least Trafford should prove to be value one day.
* I know this is bait to all those ‘in the know’ who are certain about what we actually paid for these, this was just a quick Google.

In some ways it may be better to scrap these “pressers” and perhaps do a monthly, longer “audience with” where SP plus ANother talk about the previous set of matches & the next set…………..highlight certain bits of play etc…..might get a broader view of things…….(tho I think there may be some tv contractual thing to all this)
I did quite like those TurfMore editions, so could build something around that type of thing……..
Just a thought like……

If you listen to the stuff that's been coming out of thr club since September, there is no current medical reason for him not to be playing. They are trying to pull the wool over the fans eyes and it's fans like yourself that allow it to happen.
The only way the question gets asked is if the fans keep mentioning it. As I've said, it isn't acceptable in any form of business to just sweep things under the carpet. And as the stakeholders with the real interest and passion for the club, it's up to us to shine a light on it with the hope of some more reasonable explanation

Re: Scott Parker pre-match v Boro
Not sure you've quite grasped the definition of conspiracy theory.
He's been back in training since September according to Parker himself and yet there has been no sign with no explanation as to why. I haven't peddled any theory whatsoever, I've said there should have been more communication about his recent absence.
We have a club saddled with debt, not sure if you've missed that. So to sign a player for that amount of money and then just not use him is clearly an extravagance we can't really afford.
Any other business would have to explain such monumental balls ups. A CEO can't just avoid answering questions from others stakeholders because it's an awkward question to answer. By my fag packet calculations it's nearly a quarter of our annual revenue that's gone on him.

This stuff about stakeholders and being entitled to know is just nonsense. We are customers - our stake in the club is emotional of course but that does not give us any rights to information about employees of the club. Even if you are a shareholder of a club or any organisation you are still not entitled to details of individual employees.
All football clubs share as much information with their fans as they choose to. It’s not an obligation. If there is a valid reason to keep certain information from the fans then it’s pretty much none of our business. If you want more than this then unfortunately the only way is to get yourself on to the clubs board and buy into the club. That’s pretty much the same with every private business in the world.
I have no idea why any supporter would get so upset about something they have zero control of. Is it not enough for you to know that this is a transfer that has not worked out ? Why do you need to know the detail as to why ? It’s not your money that could be lost and if you are worried about whether this will make much difference to our overall financial situation then you might want to check the business we did over the summer.
Just read your last financial calculation comment - think this may explain why you are so worried !! It’s more utter rubbish but it does explain your concern !!

Again, I'm going in circles but I've not said anything about wanting private information about any individuals at the club. I fully accept he seems to have had a really serious illness but that was from July time to about September.
So he's now been training for as long as he was out ill (according to Parker himself), so again why is possibly our most expensive asset been nowhere near a match day squad for 3 months. Especially when we've also had our COO telling supporters a couple of months ago that he was close to being back.

Simple as - nothing else matters.

It’s almost certain too that the press have been instructed not to probe, so any criticism of the questions is also misplaced.

Re: Scott Parker pre-match v Boro
Tresor was the signing I was most excited about when we won promotion back to the premier league, I’ve defended the signing in the past as we don’t know why he hasn’t featured because it well could be a genuine reason due to a medical condition etc
Why the player and club have decided not to disclose the reason is incomprehensible to me now, the negative impact it’s had on the players reputation and club must surely outweigh the any negatives to releasing a statement to the fans as to why he can’t play.
Even Luke Shaw has seen how important it is to communicate with fans

I agree it's quite clear the press are under some kind of instruction not to ask certain questions which is pretty poor as well. Let's just ban all questions we don't like shall we?
I'd be a lot more receptive to the confidentiality argument if they came out and said that. What I find baffling is that both Parker and the COO have said that he's training and would be considered in 'a few weeks' that being about 2 months ago. Either keep things in house or don't. Don't just lie to keep stringing people along until the transfer windows which is what appears to be happening.

Reporters can be asked not to ask certain things however any press reporter can choose ask whatever he wants...they may be told beforehand though that the manager wont respond to certain questions.

I'll chuck one in there, he's refused to play. Absolutely no basis to that theory, along with all the other theories, until proven otherwise.

I thought reporters were tasked with finding out the facts and reporting them. Short of that they are of little use, in my humble opinion of course.

That may have been true in the past.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 7:01 pmI thought reporters were tasked with finding out the facts and reporting them. Short of that they are of little use, in my humble opinion of course.![]()

Sorry doug, but that simply isn't true....even though admittedly Pressers have been sanitised now to say the least.dougcollins wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 7:15 pmThat may have been true in the past.

Re: Scott Parker pre-match v Boro
These pressers are, I believe, a contractural obligation to either the league or a broadcaster. Virtually pointless really.

Re: Scott Parker pre-match v Boro
I’m with Goliath on this really but can possibly understand that the reason for the silence is to protect the club’s interests in some way. However surely anyone interested in buying/loaning Tresor from us isn’t going to do so without getting the full facts out anyway.
I have to say I’m pretty surprised (I was going to type “impressed” but I’m not sure it’s really a good thing on reflection) at the apparent lack of curiosity of some of the posters on the thread. I REALLY want to know the reasons for Tresor’s disappearance from view. This isn’t “weapons-grade drama queenery” it’s just normal curiosity about what’s going on at BFC and given we’ve spent north of £10m on the bloke it’s pretty natural to want to understand what’s wrong.

Remains a mystery. We know its not an injury as he has been training "on grass" for two months-certainly not an injury he got tackling anyoneStalbansclaret wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 8:02 pmI’m with Goliath on this really but can possibly understand that the reason for the silence is to protect the club’s interests in some way. Forget it - beating Boro is the priority
