Just seen that The Shield has appeared on UKTV play. Its a drama about a police department in LA. I'd put it up there with things like The Sopranos, Breaking Bad etc as one of the best things i've ever watched but hardly anybody has even heard of it!
On season 6 now after seeing your post. Proper top telly! Cheers.

Yep binged both series recently. Like you say Stallone is brilliant and really enjoyed both series.

Reminded me a bit of Lilyhammer series with Steven Van Zandt from around 10 years ago. Similar mafia boss sent away to the middle of nowhere type story with as we get in Tulsa King some great local characters. Would recommend anybody who liked Tulsa King giving Lilyhammer a watch (3 series)

Just finished the new Senna series.

Fantastic but hard watch at the end. Never changes how emotional it hits.

Such an inspirational man that will never be forgotten.

We've just started watching "The English Game" on Netflix, which has probably been referenced in the 13 pages of comments already. Looks good, after the first episode.

I can't believe that series is from 2020!
I'd have said 2 years ago if you'd asked me

No shouts for Arcane (Netflix). It's stunning.

Based on League of Legends characters but don't let that out you off - no need to have played the game or even like that sort of thing.

The animation is exquisite and storyline is brilliant - characterisation is fantastic.

Just sublime

I’m sorry, I enjoyed the first series as a nod to enjoying the films (I say films, probably only the first one) but the rest of it is quite honestly utter garbage.

Just finished Fauda on Netflix is excellent about the ( pre current war) Israeli/Palestine conflict . Well balanced and doesn’t slack .
Contrast to the entertaining hokum that is “ Black Doves” with a ludicrously miscast Keira Knightly as a spy . Though it’s a lavish production and cast and it was probs always a Xmas release . I can’t help think this started as something more serious and they lightened it up with bits of comedy .

Under the Walter Presents unbrella on 4 a NZ drama, “After The Party”. A 6 parter about a guy who is accused by his wife of abusing a drunk teenager at the husbands 50th birthday party. Story moves on 5 years when he returns to town and she won’t let it go.
Superb acting by the two leads, Peter Mullan and Robyn Campbell.
Those with sky press the blue button and say the title and it is only on until January.

Just finished Senna on Netflix. Not the one-off documentary, but a series. It's fantastically well made.

It's heartbreaking that, like Niki Lauda before his own accident, Senna was pushing for the race at Imola to be cancelled after a fatality during qualifying.

Billy Bob Thornton at his "Fargo" best.

Brilliantly acted and an interesting storyline behind the scenes of the oil industry.

I note all the recommendations for Black Doves but respectfully say that in my imho it’s truly awful. Ridiculous beyond belief with ever-more unlikely events occurring in a London which has seemingly been depopulated other than the cast.
I think it just that I prefer grittier stuff. Thought After the Party was excellent and am currently watching When the Dust Settles, a gripping Danish drama about the various people caught in a shocking terror attack in a restaurant. Both of these on All4.

Another here for American Primeval which is based around the Utah War of 1857-1858. A really well made 6 part mini-series, well worth a watch, and just a shame it wasn’t longer. There is talk about a spin off of the Isaac character, played by Taylor Kitsch.

Couple episodes left to watch of Say Nothing (on Disney I think).

I watched ‘say nothing’ over the holidays, not on Netflix or prime but worth hunting out. As IMDB says, it spans four decades of the troubles in northern ireland. Based on a series of interviews with combatants on both sides called the Belfast project, it’s superb.

For those of you who haven't seen it - Sisu is coming to Netflix on Tuesday.

A one-man killing machine guy takes on a Nazi death squad retreating from Finland in the final days of WW2. It's an utterly bonkersly gory film, but it's done in an action comic book kind of way that's reminiscent of those war comic books from the 1960s/1970s.

Incredible this. The 14 year old who played Jamie had never acted before, apparently, no theatre/drama school, Stephen Graham said they brought him off a council estate.

Written and starring the excellent Stephen Graham.
We watched the 3rd episode last with the young lad in a room with a psychologist.
Apparently, the lad playing Jamie has not had any previous acting experience but he is playing the part superbly.
We'll be watching the final episode tonight.👍
