Motorway closure ...

Post by Clarets4me » Tue Dec 10, 2024 7:24 pm

Just received a Police notice that the M65 is closed between Junctions 9-11, in both directions, due to a " concern for welfare " issue ... it states it may be closed for some time. Let's hope it's resolved soon ... just thought I'd let people know !

There's not many people in the ground to say kick off is only 20 minutes away

Got to the Asda junction and it was completely blocked. Turned around and drove all the way at back to Nelson/Barrowford (Nelson/Brierfield junction almost as bad) then down the bypass then down Barden Lane which was all clear.

Walking down from Thompson Park now…VERY quiet. Maybe a 15 minute delay would help?

Been stuck in it for about half an hour now, imagine half the crowd is still behind us. Should be delaying kick off.

Padiham Road traffic towards Burnley is being redirected by the Police. My Bus emptied at the Tim Bobbin with 2 more behind.

Too much bother for me walking in the cold air so I'm back home.

Loads of empty seats here in the BLS.

The football is also empty. with little or no cohesion.

Much like my head..

A funureal atmosphere on the concourses at half time with many patrons storming the gates in a desperate attempt to get out.

...

..onto the Motorway towards Nelson!
Both lanes coming towards Burnley on the M65 were stopped for about 2 miles.

I diverted via Brierfield, Reedley, down Colne Road and parked in town.
Just made kick off, unfortunately.
Should have gone on the pi$$ instead.

The person who was behind this incident was reported safe and getting the right help by his brother on Burnley police Facebook page.

The best news all night.
