Lyle Foster
Re: Lyle Foster
Good to have him fit and in a good frame of mind. 442 might help our strike force, in this league.

Anyway you're right, all our attacking options aren't good enough in this set up.

Certainly not in this YAWN football we are playing anyway.

Jay Rod has done okay but at 35 he ain’t going to get you the goals required,Probably better coming off the bench for 20-30 minutes.fidelcastro wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2024 9:43 pmI thought Jay Rod had done okay tbh.
Once again though, Foster is yet another player who has become better whilst unavailable.

Lovely pictures, good to see him, his partner and his daughter so happy. Great if we can get him back in the side.
He doesn’t yet get enough assists and goals but he has some good raw attributes and needs a run in the side.

There's a reason everyone wants to see us sign a striker in January.

5 in 24 in the PL, not terrible in a relegated side.

Obviously as a striker he is judged on his goal return but if you ask the question who brings more to the team Jay Rod or Foster there is only one answer.
If Jay Rod had scored a few goals since Foster has been out then I could understand your argument, but he hasn't

There simply haven't been enough goals, assists or generally good performances from him for me to think he's the long term answer (or even short term for that matter).

Just for a bit of balance, Danny Ings got six goals in his first two seasons with us in 47 appearances.
He would have been written off with those figures were he playing for us now.

His stats don’t look good but Scott has the job of getting the best out of him because he has the ability and not the consistency.Having said that our striking force is currently shocking -a guy out of position ,a guy well of the mark and a guy who should have retired over a year ago
I for one welcome his return

Re: Lyle Foster
Hes a player that needs belief in himself, and there were a number of performances in the PL when I thought WOW, he is something special ie both Villa games, Man City away, Luton away, Forest league cup and league away, and several more. He looked like a centre half's nightmare. Sadly most fans will remember him for many lack lustre games-but lets welcome him back and get behind him because if we can sort out attack we can continue to challenge effectively in this division

I'm not sure what hes been going on with the guy since his international injury. Hopefully the recuperation has improved his ability to play as the main striker for our club now for the rest of our season. But he needs to be better than he was playing up to his injury or we need to sign someone else who is better, otherwise we can kiss any thoughts of promotion goodbye for this season.

Not enough research is carried out on some signings. I pretty much fought tooth & nail arguing with 1 unnamed posted that LFs previous problems were well known prior to signing the same regarding tresor. If you invite problems upon yourself it's as sure as eggs you'll get problems. All is this avoidable with due dilligence regarding researching.

I for one would not risk Foster. We need to get rid asap.. in January window. Hes not good enough never was. And as a business its a sale for me. Move on to a striker that is reliable enough to play week in week out. Foster a sick note.

Unfortunately we are stuck with him, as no one will pay close to what we paid. Would be great if he could get himself sorted, play more than half a season and then play well for more than a handful games when he is available.
I don't think he's up to it from what I've seen, it seems to me like he has been sulking since VK left.
