Martin Dobson
Paid a visit up to Colne bookshop yesterday
and bought Dobos autobiography. Had a
chat with him, what a nice guy. Signed
it for me, and spoke about his times at
Burnley. A true claret legend.

Re: Martin Dobson
Privileged to see him play all through his time at Burnley. We often talk about Burnley’s greatest players but Dobbo was one of our greatest. He would have been a shoe in for England if it hadn’t been for Trevor Brooking. Unfortunately Brooking played for the then ‘fashionable’ club (for England) West Ham. The truth is in my opinion there was little between them, both very cultured players. Sad we had to sell him to pay for Bob Lord’s stand. Wonderful player.

Re: Martin Dobson
I got my copy from an event he did at Gigg last Friday night, attended by former Claret Wayne Entwistle. I'm extremely privileged to be mentioned in the Acknowledgements section too after I put him in touch with a lot of his former players from Bury.

Re: Martin Dobson
I remember once watching a match fairly close to the bottom wall on the Longside, I can't remember who it was against. Dobo slip in for a tackle and took the ball cleanly from the feet of a winger motoring down the flank at that side. The referee was the great Jack Taylor who was quite close and who shouted 'good tackle Martin!". I was surprised and have never seen a referee compliment a player during a game before or since.

I had a brief natter with Brian who said he had set off at 4am to get to the Turf on Saturday.
He Must be one of the keenest Burnley fans I've ever met!
