Re: Everton now under new owners
Most new owners will want to shake things up. Everton have a dreadful run of fixtures now which might give them an excuse to pull the plug. Doing so before the January window would be wise if they’re bringing a new manager in.

Re: Everton now under new owners
I’d imagine they’ll want a shiny new manager to go with their shiny new stadium . Though barring a a long run of defeats you’d think they’d keep SD to avoid relegation then mutually part . Tough in SD as he really deserves a chance to have a proper prem budget .
Re: Everton now under new owners
I suspect Dyche will see out the season, they'll be looking to stabilise and take stock (you'd hope) and a kneejerk sacking and new appointment whilst trying to get back on an even keel seems risky.
Re: Everton now under new owners
They will probably treat him the same way as ALK did!

I think he will last to the end of the season barring calamity but I get the impression Everton fans are a bit like West Ham fans and they would prefer to be battling relegation with a big name (in Everton's case like Frank Lampard) than being relatively solid with SD or a David Moyes.

Bringing Moyes back would be hugely popular, I’d think. And you’d bet he’d take it.ClaretPete001 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2024 11:05 amI think he will last to the end of the season barring calamity but I get the impression Everton fans are a bit like West Ham fans and they would prefer to be battling relegation with a big name (in Everton's case like Frank Lampard) than being relatively solid with SD or a David Moyes.

Re: Everton now under new owners
Yes Everton would have Moyes back - my point really was West Ham ditched Moyes who won a trophy but was not popular with the fans and Everton fans want to see the back of SD after he pretty much got them to 12th last season (points deducted taken into account) and seemed much happier with Frank Lampard.
They seem to think they should be much higher in the league but Tottenham, Newcastle and Man Utd occupy mid table with much better squads so I'm not sure who they think their squad is better than....!
They only have one PL striker as far as I can see who has only ever had one prolific season and is injury prone.
Regardless, I think SD will be gone before Everton are in the new stadium.

I think Dyche is out of contract at the end of this season.
Maybe the new owners will reward him with a new one, but I doubt it.

I was reading yesterday, that despite adding 15k seats to the capacity with the new stadium. They have only allocated 3k to new Season Ticket holders, who have had to have been on the membership for the last 5 years.

Probably true, and shows the total lack of loyalty within football.
Sean will probably keep Everton up this season, but I do see him moving on before next season.
On the plus side, he will be able to afford another new watch

Re: Everton now under new owners
The sensible route would be to honour SD's contract, which ends in Summer, enable him to keep Everton up, which he will comfortably achieve with his defence and review him in May. By that time the new owners can fully evaluate SD, and their ability to work with him. SD deserves some sort of recognition as he has kept Everton up for several years, despite selling some good players
Re: Everton now under new owners
First think ALK did was renew Dyche's contract which obviously they regretted later, I agree with the sentiment on here they won't sack him they'll just let him go at the end of the season unless of course they have someone lined up to benefit from the January window.

Can’t see Sean being under any of the new owners !!!
Re: Everton now under new owners
Looks unlikely that he will get to manage in the new stadium which is harsh. He's done a brilliant job there, regardless of what Everton fans say.
I don't know many managers that would still have them in the Prem with the budget he's had. He's had to scratch around for signings with basically nothing available to him. I think he'd get rid of the majority of the squad if he had the money

Re: Everton now under new owners
I can see them appointing Moyes. It would instantly get their fans on side, and wouldn’t even be considering the type of football. If I was an Everton fan I’d be looking back at the Moyes era thinking what could have been with a bit more money to spend. For that reason I think they’d be excited.
I don’t think it would work out as planned though.

Re: Everton now under new owners
The "trouble" with old stadiums is the lack of hospitality seats where you can really squeeze big bucks out of people. Think a lot of the extra capacity at the new stadium is to address that.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2024 11:36 amI was reading yesterday, that despite adding 15k seats to the capacity with the new stadium. I go the impression they wanted him far more than SD and were much more tolerant of him than SD.
But I guess, we only have small samples to go off.
I think SDs achievement last season was recognised far more by the media than by the Everton fan base.
And I've been a bit disappointed by how critical the likes of Toffee TV have been and wonder why they think they should be far higher in the table given that the quality of Spurs, Man Utd and Newcastle occupy the mid-table slots.
Just my opinion.

I think a bit like SD - David Moyes is a bit of a tainted brand and with a bit of money behind them the fans would soon become quite critical of his pragmatic approach.gandhisflipflop wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2024 12:13 pmI can see them appointing Moyes. But who knows, even Ancelloti and hundreds of millions could only get Everton to 12th or so.
Re: Everton now under new owners
Dyche probably akin to Parker here. There's a lot of people who think he's doing OK with the hand he's dealt but not so amazingly they're going to shout about it and then an amplified, vocal minority complaining about how much better things should be.ClaretPete001 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2024 12:28 pmI go the impression they wanted him far more than SD and were much more tolerant of him than SD.

Re: Everton now under new owners
There's a few reasons for it.
Dyche comes across very unlikeable, Lampard didn't.
Dyches football is horrendous to watch.
His results have been awful, he's had a few small spells where they have won 5 in a row. Its masked the rest of his seasons.
And to the people saying Evertonians would welcome Moyes back etc.
They wouldn't

Re: Everton now under new owners
Everton fans sense of entitlement and expectations are crazy.
They have been flirting with relegation now for a number of years. Since Dyche came in I am pretty sure the last time I looked he has brought more in transfer fees from player sales than he has spent. How many clubs in the Premier League are working under these kind of constraints ?
SD has improved the defence - no surprise there. But he’s also getting best out of the likes of Ashley Young and Dwight McNeil. Branthwaite is now being targeted by the big clubs and valued at £50m plus and he’s another who has been benefited from SD.
But it’s never enough for Everton fans and I think they will end up getting what they want soon enough. A new manager, another false dawn and round the same loop they go. That’s unless the new owners decide they want to through a couple of hundred of million on the team and a new manager makes some very good purchases.

That just seems ridiculous to me. Apart from the points deduction he would have achieved 12th last season nursing DCL with relatively little investment and matching Ancelloti.theduke wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2024 12:36 pmThere's a few reasons for it.

Re: Everton now under new owners
I'd argue 12th is about where Everton should finish. He hasn't had little investment. He's bought for decent money:
Beto
N'diaye
O'Brien
Chermiti
My Everton family hate him. Of the 4 above he doesn't play 3 and plays the other out of position. He barley played Onana last season, he was forced into playing Branthwaite by the fans, he'd rather play Michael Keane every week. He refuses to play the young RB, even slapping him on a trip last season.
He preaches and plays the worst style of football i've ever seen. I went to Goodison with my dad earlier this season against Southampton in the cup. Wow it was unbelievable. At home against the worst side in PL history and he put 11 men behind the ball and asked Tarks to lump it forward.
He's fluffed his lines. He's just pigeon holed himself as another Alladyche from now. He's shown he can't improve players.

The fascinating thing about football is it's all about opinions. You and I probably agree that theduke's take on this is nonsense.warksclaret wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2024 1:37 pmCan't improve players-what about Heaton, Mee, Tarks, Keane, McNeil, Westwood, Braithwaite, Barton, Cork, Pope,Andre Gray, Danny Ings. We had some awful football at times under Dyche but we also had the most effective football and the best quality football we've seen since we were 'The Team of the 70s'.
If what theduke says is true - that the football under Dyche is the worst he's seen - then I'd assume he wasn't going on when Cotterill was in charge and that he's missed several of the games this season and almost all of last season.

Everton have sold nearly a hundred million more than they have recouped in the last few years. Everton haven't had a positive net spend in the transfer market since 20/21
Look at the quality sold: Onana, Anthony Gordon, Moise Keane, Richarlison and Iwobi.
Finishing 12th last season was a significant achievement but as I say I don't think Everton fans will ever acknowledge it.

he didn't play Onana though, so it made no difference to him.
Ancelloti had Everton 2nd on Boxing day. They fell off ( i imagine he knew he was going back to Real).
I' m sorry but Dyche has failed his audition. He will never get a big job again. I compare him to Howe. Howe has shown that he could take players that were average and in relegation fights and made them much better players at Newcastle. When they sack him, he'll get a Spurs, Everton, Villa size job again.
Dyche will get a Southampton, Brentford size

Half the problem for Everton fans is perfectly put here. Is Everton a big job in football ? If when Dyche leaves how many clubs in the Prem could they approach and the manager would leave his current club to go to Everton 4 maybe 5 ?
Granted they had a brilliant team in the mid 80s but 1 trophy in best part of 40 years really should make their fanbase realise their place in football. If they had Moyes and they were finishing top 8 some would still be moaning.

Of course it's a big job. Forget the fact they are now debt free, or are moving into a big new stadium, or the fact they will prob be up to £100m per season better off.
They are still one of the giants of the English game. Pre dyche Everton's managers included ancellotti, benitez they bullied Southampton and Watford out of their managers.
When the job comes up in the summer, provided they stay in the league. Every manager bar the top 6 and Newcastle and villa will be interested in the job.
Thomas frank would be a sensible appointment

If they have any sense and are here for the long run they will ignore the fans, keep Dyche this season and next and ensure they stay up then build from there.
However these are the guys that sacked Mourinho and caused a fan revolt, then quelled it by appointing club legend De Rossi only to sack him after 4 draws (having just given him a new contract). Rome has almost burned to the ground this year
they are now 12th and on their 3rd manager of the season so I won’t be convinced they know what they are doing.

Onana played 37 times for Everton last season and was an integral part of the squad. He was very good against us so clearly he played at least once.theduke wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2024 2:13 pmhe didn't play Onana though, so it made no difference to him.

I think you can quibble with ifs, buts and maybes but Dyche equalled Ancelloti who spent a lot of Moshiri's money..!
The quality of those who have arrived has been much less than those who have gone and Everton have sold players rather than buying them for several years.
I hope he has a decent season and leaves regardless of what the owners want because I think there comes a point, as David Moyes found out, where a manager just becomes a dead man walking.

That is one of the worst comparisons you could make. Howe has done a good job whilst being back by the Saudi's. He's also spent a fortune, whilst Dyche has been wheeling and dealing.theduke wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2024 2:13 pmhe didn't play Onana though, so it made no difference to him.

Yeah crazy comparison when Howe has signed Isak, Bruno G, Gordon, Tonali, and Botman - to name the top players Newcastle have signed who come to mind.
Re: Everton now under new owners
Unless you were just happy with staying in the Premier League (me), why would you want Sean Dyche as the manager of your Football Club?
If we were to be promoted and Dyche was available I'd rather start the season with Sean rather than Scott, regardless of the fact that Parker got us promoted...for context.

Re: Everton now under new owners
Well, I reckon most of us thought that the boy band would’ve been potted early doors at Newcastle after the Saudis took over, but that sacking never materialised…Spijed wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2024 10:31 amWonder what will happen to SD.

However, this is Everton. An absolute car crash of a club. I’d love it, absolutely love it if they went down.

And Dyche signed Ashley young on a free who's about 40 and Beto who I'm pretty sure was signed because of the structure of the deal which meant they paid basically nothing upfront I remember reading at the time.Poulton-le-Claret wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2024 5:52 pmYeah crazy comparison when Howe has signed Isak, Bruno G, Gordon, Tonali, and Botman - to name the top players Newcastle have signed who come to mind.
Also strange to say he doesn't develop players when he has Branthwaite being linked to all the big boys along with Keane and Tarkowski who were both improved massively by Dyche

Fair play to the new owners paying off all the debts.
I know it was reported they would do, but they have done it officially on day one.

Are we still after some compo off them?
Re: Everton now under new owners
He didn't sign any of them when he took over Newcastle that were adrift.Poulton-le-Claret wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2024 5:52 pmYeah crazy comparison when Howe has signed Isak, Bruno G, Gordon, Tonali, and Botman - to name the top players Newcastle have signed who come to mind.
He's improved averaged players like willock, Murphy and long staff.
Dyche hasn't

Brentford have a ceiling. Everton don't really.Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2024 4:25 pmThomas Frank would be off his head to take the Everton job he had a better one already.
Thomas frank would walk over broken glass to manage Everton. As would loads of managers.
