January Transfer Window Rumours
Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Nixon linking us with Oli McBurnie and Said Benrahma this morning
Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Competing with Blackburn for McBurnie although he seems settled in Spain. Loan.
Benrahma would be a loan leading to possible buy as he is getting little game time. Premier League clubs interested also.
Both seem a little speculative in my opinion.

McBurnie, I really hope not. I still think we should try and get Almiron on loan, he’s just what we’re short of.
Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Both would be smart signings albeit yeah, seem a touch speculative.

Another right footed left winger as well.CharlieinNewMexico wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2024 8:27 amBenrahma? They just paid 15 mill for him in the summer and he’s 29! It’d be a loan if nothing else and even then only if they’ve completely lost faith in him.

Unless Koleosho is off and Benrahma is to replace him? I wouldn’t be fussed about Luca leaving if we get good money.
Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
McBurnie - the guy who is a walking red card? Please no - I appreciate that players can change and that his type of style is one which ages well (strong hold up player). But I can't see this going well. There was also an article recently about how well he's settled at Las Palmas and enjoying it there.
Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Two interesting links.
I'd have taken McBurnie on a free and he probably is the type of striker that would fit what Parker wants pretty well. He's a dick though- but when it's your own dick you don't mind.
Benrahma you'd think would be a terrific signing for this division. Not sure how much chance we have although he doesn't look like he's been playing regularly in France.

A walking red card? A bit like Ashley Barnes and Joey Barton, you mean? I don’t think McBurnie has a terrible disciplinary record…. He’s an absolute whopper off the pitch though.scamander wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2024 8:50 amMcBurnie - the guy who is a walking red card? As others have said, both would be smart moves. We’re absolutely desperate for a NATURAL right winger though.

Apparently McBurnie’s an absolute moron off the pitch and he’s seems to be a younger version of Joey Barton at his worst .boyyanno wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2024 8:54 amTwo interesting links.

Two career red cards both last season, one of which was in our 5-0 win over the Blunts, but don't let the facts get in the way of your opinion. That said, I don't think that he would be the right fit for our team.scamander wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2024 8:50 amMcBurnie - the guy who is a walking red card? Can’t say I agree with you here.
McBurnie has 1 goal every 182 minutes in the Championship. Add to that being a focal point and a recent promotion from this league.
Benrahma has quality for PL and would probably be the most, or one of the most, talented player in the league. I assume here you are referring to the fact he’s a right footed left winger, when ideally we need the opposite?

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
McKenna has shown great loyalty towards Muric. Yes he can be sensational, or hit a 90 yard pass to a player but I lived on my nerves every time the ball went into our penalty area. I would expect Muric to be rested soon-I know an Ipswich fan and they just don't rate himNewcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2024 9:03 amJust caught match of the day,

McBurnie isn't a goal scorer apart from one excellent return in the Championship several years ago.RVclaret wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2024 9:21 amCan’t say I agree with you here.

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
I am open minded about McBurnie-he has features about his game we are missing. Had we a fit and on form Foster ie one that gets under the skin of the opposing centre halves and produces his driving runs, then McBurnie would be surplus. However, how many games has Foster missed this season, and when he has played how often has he played well. How often was he injured last season too. There is still a place for this type of player, particularly in the Championship, and Keiffer Moore in the last few games has shown this for Sheff Utd
Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
To be fair that's not entirely true.
McBurnie in the Championship:
42 games- 22 goals
17 games- 9 goals
28 games- 0 goals
38 games- 13 goals
You could make the argument that apart from one poor season in the championship he has scored reasonably consistently at the level, and played (and scored) at the level above. He's also a decent link man.

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Difficult to like McBurnie but most would say that about Barnes. Sheff United fans loved him and he’s definitely effective at this level. I’d be fine with a loan but I wouldn’t want him in the Premier League should we get promoted, so any purchase should be optional rather than an obligation IMO.
Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
I suppose you can make stats work to support a viewpoint. Like looking at at his recent history, which is more relevant than how many goals he scored 6 years ago in one season, he has scored 19 league goals from 101 appearances. That's before considering that he's a c0ck.boyyanno wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2024 9:38 amTo be fair that's not entirely true.

Saw an interview with Mcburnie recently saying how much he was loving it in Spain. Can't see him coming back after 6 months, unless they want rid of him already

Not sure if it's been posted but the BBC are linking Spurs with a 20m move for Trafford.

Came from the Mirror this. I’d imagine we’d be looking for north of £30m at this stage of the season for him anyway. Developing nicely.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2024 10:11 amNot sure if it's been posted but the BBC are linking Spurs with a 20m move for Trafford.

Have to say, I thought that was an awful deal for us but sadly he’s making it look an excellent one.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2024 9:03 amJust caught match of the day,

Every week that goes by I become more and more convinced that Kompany had made the right call last year and he was only dropped to avoid an instalment becoming payable.
Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Well I'd say his championship stats are relevant but for context last season he got 6 in 21 in the Prem which isn't awful figures.taio wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2024 9:47 amI suppose you can make stats work to support a viewpoint. He's a c0ck no doubt but he'd be a decent asset in this division. Also has experience getting out of it and Barnes showed for us under Kompany that the centre forward doesn't have to plunder 20 goals.
I also think it's a bit unrealistic to expect us to go out and get a 20 goal a season man who links the play well to be honest.

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
£30m upfront + extras + loan back until end of season. Wouldn't be the worst deal, if he's going to leave in the summer anyway.
Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Fair enough if you think he's the type of player we most need. I struggle to see how anyone can conclude after watching us this season that he fills our main gap. We already have several players who link play well, and I don't think it's unrealistic to think we could sign a striker who can score 10 or so goals in the second half of the season.boyyanno wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2024 10:23 amWell I'd say his championship stats are relevant but for context last season he got 6 in 21 in the Prem which isn't awful figures.

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Not a massive fan of McBurnie and he brings some baggage which I'm not convinced is helpful, although I certainly see the argument that a physical presence like him would help the team. I wish we'd moved for Kieffer Moore in the summer. McBurnie started the season in the Las Palmas team but seems to have lost his place recently.
Benrahma is a good player and it'd be surprising if he was in our range. He also seems to have lost his place in the Lyon team. You'd imagine someone would have to leave to make space for him - perhaps if Tresor does leave there's a space in the squad for a creative player.

Based in what exactly. I think he was poor in his first season nevermond this one. I see absolutely nothing there which makes me think he will become a great player

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Benrahma would be a great bit of business . Yes he’s a left winger but can operate as a 10 too. He’s a level above the championship for sure and would give us some real options once Sarmiento and Redmond are fit , providing Redmond stays. Add to that Benson if he can get fit.

He wasn't poor last season. He needs to improve this season but he's just turned 20 and I'm sure most supporters will recognise he has significant potential but there is a need for patience.
Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
While i dont like being negative about a player. The difference between Hannibal and Luca i think is that Hannibal appears to be learning and improving. I dont see that level of improvement in Luca. Last year to this year. Doing the same think no end product.
Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
He got 1 goal and 1 assist in 15 appearances. The goal was against a dreadful Sheff Utd team when we had already won and the the assist was a screamer by Amdouni.
He just has no football intelligence and lacks basic technical skills. I just don't see much bar some pace. Anything over 15 million and I'd be delighted for us to sell

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
I don't think it's worth bringing in another striker unless he's 20+ goals a (full) season almost guaranteed. Otherwise how much better is he than foster/Jay/Flemming/Houtondji realistically? I would rather give Foster another chance alongside the others, and if we get promoted go out and get in a higher calibre of striker then.
Not to mention we're going to get our pants pulled down on price in January for almost anyone worth buying. A loan, maybe.

He assisted Foster for the goal against Spurs (really good play) so you’ve completely made that up.Goliath wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2024 11:37 amHe got 1 goal and 1 assist in 15 appearances.
