Decent manager that’s a good gig uptheclarets
Re: Carlos Corberan - West Brom > Valencia
Not done as well as I thought he would this season with West Brom.
Far too many draws for them to be serious contenders for the automatic promotion places.

Didn't see that one coming.

Surprised he’s gone to Valencia, they’re a historic club and we all remember the early 2000s side but they’re miles away from that. I watched the last game and they were awful against a fellow struggler In Espanyol, Valencia bottom of the league and have been heading downwards for years. If he held out, I’m sure he could’ve got a better gig.

He’s from the Valencia region and began his fleeting playing career there.

A manager that has flattered to deceive. Mid table championship is probably his level

Re: Carlos Corberan - West Brom > Valencia
West Brom getting money for him is good business
Re: Carlos Corberan - West Brom > Valencia
Was my choice to replace Kompany.
No way should that Huddersfield side have been anywhere close to the playoffs, and yet he took them to the brink of the Premier League. West Brom have been in financial limbo during his time there yet he leaves them just outside the playoffs, neck and neck with Middlesbrough in sixth.
No brainer for him to go to Valencia. Not only are they a massive club; they're his boyhood club.

Considering the financial constraints placed on the club and by the club he’s done well to keep them in the top half of the table
Did a great job at Hudds too
Re: Carlos Corberan - West Brom > Valencia
Not sure where that has come from, he's never been mid table. Third with Huddersfield, seventh with West Brom. Both clubs punching above.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 24, 2024 7:13 amA manager that has flattered to deceive. Mid table championship is probably his level

Wasn't given enough time at Huddersfield (one of my pals is a Huddersfield fan and said the same thing) and wasn't given enough time at WBA.nil_desperandum wrote: ↑Tue Dec 24, 2024 8:51 amConsidering the financial constraints placed on the club and by the club he’s done well to keep them in the top half of the table

I think if a club give him the time he needs he'll be very successful.

He still lives in the West Midlands and can see him being up for the move to WBA.

My mate who is a big Huddersfield fan said the club wanted him gone. So it's more likely they parted ways amicably.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat Dec 28, 2024 5:10 pmNot given enough time? It has been his decision to leave both clubs.

Re: Carlos Corberan - West Brom > Valencia
From sky sports
Talks have ended between Raphael Wicky and West Brom over the head coach job.
It is understood they could not agree on his backroom staff and Albion are now considering their other options.
Rene Hake – who was assistant to Erik ten Hag at Manchester United – was another prominent name in the running.
It remains to be seen whether the Baggies will rekindle discussions with Hake.

Re: Carlos Corberan - West Brom > Valencia
Local West Brom journo says the club agreed with Wicky's request to bring two coaching staff with him but weren't willing to pay for their moving expenses to the UK and this resulted in talks breaking down. As said by Walt, Sean Dyche the new early favourite.Poulton-le-Claret wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 2:38 pmFrom sky sports

Re: Carlos Corberan - West Brom > Valencia
An American owned club with PSR concerns.
Sounds right up Dyche’s street.

Re: Carlos Corberan - West Brom > Valencia
They can’t afford Dyche HOWEVER if he feels it’s a good opportunity he may compromise on some ££ maybe a decent promotion bonus thrown in.
They are a good fit for him, already defensively solid and in and around the top 6.
Massive questions over the ownership though, Valencia are the biggest basket case in European football bar none so it must not be great at Brom for CC to go there (granted it’s his hometown club).

Re: Carlos Corberan - West Brom > Valencia
Dyche said he would give it 'a window of time' to get a Premier League job after he left us. I'd be surprised if it was any different this time.

More from sky sports - Eustace back in the frame?
Hake will not consider further West Brom talks
Latest from Sky Sports News' Lyall Thomas:
Rene Hake will not consider further talks with West Brom after their attempt to appoint Raphael Wicky as head coach broke down, Sky Sports News understands.
Hake was one of the other preferred candidates before Albion pursued things with Wicky, who was unable to agree with the club on his backroom staff.
Hake, who was assistant to Erik ten Hag at Manchester United, has interest from other clubs across Europe.
West Brom are considering their options and are not expected to pursue either John Eustace again, who was also previously considered, nor Rob Edwards after he left Luton.

Re: Carlos Corberan - West Brom > Valencia
If West Brom wanted Eustace they would have had him in by now.
When the names like Hake, Wicky & Fischer were being linked it feels much more West Brom to go for Mowbray. They tend to have a manager for about 12 months or so before changing.
