Saudi maybe? Surely no team championship or above would take a punt on him now.

That’s the third team to pot their manager shortly before we play them - adding to Coventry and Stoke.

It was always a difficult job, but he hasn't shown anything to suggest he might make a manager.
The opportunities will get thinner on the ground.

I actually wanted him to succeed but he’s clearly not cut out for management. Time to wrap his hand in I’d say.

And surely that is the last time a serious club will appoint him. He clearly cannot do the job and I’m convinced the only reason he came out of Derby with credit is because he had Liam Rosenior as his right hand man.

He's had some crap jobs and credit to him for taking them.

Plymouth was always a tough gig for anyone. I thought he did quite well at Derby under the circumstances and handled the situation well during interviews.

Having said that, I'm glad he wasn't selected over Kompany.

I mentioned a couple of weeks ago I thought he’d have gone after their recent defeat. I have no problem with Rooney himself, great player for club and country but I just can’t imagine being sat in a dressing room with him giving a team talk, he bores me to death listening to him speak.

Ditto Lampard and Parker. And maybe RVN and Parker too.

He's well in at Sky, should just do that. He's now had 3 attempts at being a manager and I'd argue anyone on here would do as well, his record is abysmal.

Plymouth should try and get Steven Schumacher back

In fairness the crap jobs were probably the only 1s offered he's not going to get the real Madrid job but after kompanys appointment at BM literally anything is possible in football. He didn't have to take any of the jobs so I agree some credit should be forthcoming he's amassed that much money in life to never really work again. I think he'll still get job offers because in the footballing world more emphasis is focused on being mesmerised by name alone & ability playing second fiddle. He'll rock up somewhere else throwing his hat into the ring.

This is Wayne Rooney we’re talking about. When anything gets ‘thin in the ground’ he gets a transplant.

Hopefully there’ll be an opportunity implant open up for him in Blackburn one day.

Plymouth have been way below the required standard, but who did not expect Plymouth to be way below the required standard?

Romney’s desperation to get back into management made him take up a poisoned challace, I don’t think it necessarily reflects badly on him as a manager, just as a manager of Plymouth where a stoic grafter type manager was needed to grind out results. He lacked the lower league experience for the trench warfare mentality as it is not something he has encountered either as a player or in his previous flirtations in management. Micky would have helped, but it was all too late for him to get the mentality changed.

As a player, he was a soldier and a real grafter when you needed someone to stand up so I think he has that in his locker, but probably chilled out a bit too much following his playing career.

I am sure when Wayne drops his toast on the kitchen floor in the morning that it invariably lands butter side up. He won’t be off work claiming benefits for long. ;)

Their squad, which isn't the best, was beset with injuries to key players particularly when all 3 forwards: Cissoko, Whittaker and Obafemi have all been out at the same time.

At Derby he was forced to turn largely to youth, it probably served him well as they were more easily to motivate into his 150% at it player style. I don’t for one second suggest he did not demand they fight, but to me that is different than seeing the pragmatism of a lower league manager running a club fighting above its weight. Plymouth is a funny club, a decent ground and fanbase and yet with a few years exception they’ve always been in the lower reaches of the league- a small club feel.

A graveyard full of them. It's a handy excuse to have & in fairness you are probably right but in most cases its well apparent prior to taking the job on. The pay off he's had for being a failure for a few months probably equates to a working man packing it in & being set up for life. It's crazy & 1 of the reasons where football's concerned strict financial spending limits are set with my personal outlay. Won't get rich from me unless they truly earn it.
