Set piece coach

Post by Papabendi » Wed Jan 01, 2025 5:32 pm

Needs firing off I am afraid. Just not good enough - we need far more output offensively. Even the throw ins are awful.

Can’t remember the last time I got excited when we got a corner because you know nothing is going to come from it.

I think the OP is talking about attacking, not defending. Different coach.

Did Roberts throw it directly to a Stoke player more than once today?

It’s laughable.

It's not a different coach. Eliot Tybebo is the set piece coach- attacking and defending.

I was just adding a bit of balance to the post.

So why not add a bit of balance and commend him for the work he has done with the defensive set pieces.

Would you say that is the fault of the set piece coach?

Not at all, it was just an observation.

From what I hear, I don't think Scott Parker would disagree with you.

I thought we made progress on corners today. I think we actually won a header - Roberts I think.

Sorry didn’t know that. I assumed we had both an attacking and defending coach. Seem strange that we only have 1 coach doing both jobs? Is this normal? Might explain a lot.

How is it that we won 2 free kicks within 25 yds of the goals when Flemming came on and he didn’t take them .I presume after scoring 2 in the last 3 games he’s not allowed to take anymore.

There's no need to apologise.
I'm not too sure if it's normal but it does seem a bit strange. Maybe a bit too much work but Eliot is in charge of defensive and attacking set pieces.

I just thought I would give credit where credit is due. I think he is doing a good job on the defensive side . Agreed not so good on the attacking side.

For balance yes defensively we are very good. How much of that is Jackson vs Tybebo is debatable.

However if we want balance - being good at only 50% of your job is not good enough. Anyone else in any other field would be moved on for being 50% good at their job (at best).
