Lids
Lids
Bought a coffee at HT, Longside upper. Hot drinks are now supplied without lids. Someone bumped into me as I was traversing the packed concourse and I scalded my hand and got coffee on my new suede trainers. Nice one.

Re: Lids
Same in Jimmy Mac Upper, can only assume they haven't had a delivery of them or something? It was quite amusing though in that I bought two hot drinks for me and my Dad and the lad said "No lids mate", I then saw behind him a stack of 6/7 lids and he grabbed a piece of cardboard and covered them up?!
Maybe they are being reserved for VIP's

Re: Lids
Normally I'd consider this nitpicking, but not when it's boiling hot drinks inside a heavily crowded football concourse. Anyway, no lid - then don't buy. They'll quickly get their act in order when their takings are down.
Re: Lids
You bunch of over privileged moaning snobs.
In the JML I bought my brew however the lid was provided but the cup and beverage were missing.
Being a stoic Brit, I didn’t moan I just got on with it and ate the lid.

Wearing brand new suede trainers in the ******* down rain doesn't sound the wisest decision.

Re: Lids
How difficult can it be to estimate the number of lids? If they work on the basis of 1 lid per cup, they surely won't be far wrong?

There was loads of lids in the BL, they should have arranged an inter stand transfer.
I refused my lid as I know how scarce and valued they can be but it was predominantly because I'm a wild individual who lives life on the edge.

Re: Lids
Coincidentally we actually complained about the lack of lids when we bought hot drinks in the Bob Lord yesterday
I actually asked who would be liable if someone bumped into me and I scolded my hand

Re: Lids
The lids don’t fit the cups because they are bought from different suppliers - so the quantities don’t match and are not much good in any case.
Go to the Health & Safety dept at the local council and complain- the club have a duty to safeguard their customers. boiling liquid, stairs, kids and inebriated fans are a dangerous combination and the club needs to at least provide, or offer to provide, a lid that fits the cup - it can’t be that difficult.
Or it could just be part of the enhanced fan experience

Re: Lids
Surely they can't be that stupid? A lid that doesn't fit properly is worse than no lid at all, because it risk burns to the face for people tipping up the cup thinking there is a secure lid when there isn't.LincsWoldsClaret wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2025 12:19 pmThe lids don’t fit the cups because they are bought from different suppliers - so the quantities don’t match and are not much good in any case.

Re: Lids
That depends a smaller lid I agree no real workaround a larger lid you could perhaps get it to fit it'd certainly cover the hole but not correctly sealed but certainly not ideal. Regarding people scalding themselves I'm not sure on the claim recourse if people are daft enough to buying hot transportable drinks without lids it just wouldn't/shouldn't happen anyway.
Re: Lids
If you sell a hot drink in a cup with a lid, and the lid doesn't fit because it is the wrong lid, and someone tips the cup up and the lid falls off and the hot drink scalds their face - you are risking trouble. People are entitled to believe that anytime they purchase a lidded cup, then the lid will fit securely.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2025 12:41 pmThat depends a smaller lid I agree no real workaround a larger lid you could perhaps get it to fit it'd certainly cover the hole but not correctly sealed but certainly not ideal. Re: Lids
The basis of my comment regarding liability/claims were people buying hot drinks outright without lids not the wrong fitting lids. I agree if it's purchased with a lid the customer should have faith it fits correctly.dsr wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2025 12:59 pmIf you sell a hot drink in a cup with a lid, and the lid doesn't fit because it is the wrong lid, and someone tips the cup up and the lid falls off and the hot drink scalds their face - you are risking trouble. Re: Lids
This is the legal precedent-
There is a duty owed by the vendor to ensure that lids are securely fastened to cups before being served to customers
There is also a duty to ensure that cups are not so overfilled with hot drinks that the liquid is able to escape and scald the consumer.

Re: Lids
I think you should save a lid when you get it and keep it for your next visit - re-use/recycle!
That's what the Yeo Valley yoghurt people asked buyers to do when they dispensed with lids to save the planet. Interestingly you can now buy manufactured lids for various yoghurts to replace them!

Re: Lids
I bake a couple of pies in the oven at home so they are ready for one hour before kickoff. I wrap them in tin foil and put them in my pocket. Come half time they are the perfect temperature for me. I also take a small thermos with coffee in. No problem.
