Great report thanks Tony. I’m sure we all know exactly what you mean with your comment about not enjoying the game until after it’s finished.
Good battling performance, cracking goal and our usual ultra solid defensive display. Well done lads.

You are going to games for weeks hearing the 'Bring on the b*******' chant and I just don't look forward to it at all. But we got everything from our players yesterday and I've now had around 23 hours of pure joy.

Excellent report CT. The referee was, as you suggest, extremely lenient towards them. Like you I didn't particularly enjoy the game but thoroughly enjoyed the outcome and still am. The icing on the cake was to see John Egan on the pitch for the last few minutes. Something I've probably dreamed of for a very long time and there it was. Perfect conclusion. 🥂

Pleased Egan got on the pitch for you - very much the icing on your cake.

Did your friend Elaine used to work at Burnley about 25 years ago? She looks familiar.

Like from me for the Deadwood Stage reference!! From what I saw on tv both live and replays, the Baker foul was disgusting and way off the ball. So late in fact that Kitchen was looking in a different direction. Not sure how the linesman missed it as well. Var would have certainly stopped play and told Kichen to issue a straight red I am seeing more off the ball and pre planned incidents like this in The Championship. The culprits know that if the ref misses it ( like yesterday) then with no Var to worry about they are Scot free.
With that in mind I think EFL will have option but to introduce VAR sooner rather than later. Whilst I am not a fan of it the Bakers of this world will continue to go on unpenalized.
How happy I was when Bakers header flashed past the post when he probably should have scored. Karma for sure

Great report.

I think its true to say our fanbase falls into two camps.

Those who are my age 60ish who remember the good old days when we were decent and they weren't. Fans my age saw the 30 years and the scars to prove it. The most exciting was beating them in a preseason friendly (manx cup?) one tuesday on the turf. I dreaded the FA/League draws praying we didn't get them.

Then there is the younger more confident group like my daughter who is 30 this year, first year OCs promotion. Ok we got beat twice the following season but since then they have never known anything but success. She couldn't wait for this game, wants them in the cups. Has total confidence that we are better than them and win. Incredibly disappointed with the draw earlier this year.

The David Dunn late goal in 2013 has been wiped from her memory bank, for me i couldn't speak, that day i would have bet my life we would never beat them in my lifetime!!

I still carry the scars and every derby fills me with dread.

At the final whistle on the day Dunn scored that stoppage time goal that was miles offside, someone said to me as we were leaving: “How much longer do we have to wait?” As it happens it was a year but we can’t take it as read that things will continue as they did for all those years.

But I’ll never, ever look forward to this fixture.

Great report Tony. My views are similar to yours on the Derby. It's not a day I look forwards to at all, although very much enjoy afterwards.

It was the first time I managed to take my young sons with me and they very much enjoyed the day. I keep telling myself I won't be going again as don't want the stress and yet still find myself in the Darwen End.

Three words on the ref.
He was shocking!

Their supporters continually saying Laurent and Cullen???? Should have been sent, but conveniently forget about Baker's red that was missed after about 10 mins into the game and a stone wall penalty which we didn't get.
Mind you, they also forget about the £750 million Jack Walker piled into their club.

It looks like this one has really hurt them as they were expecting to win this one as we "aren't as strong as we had been" in recent meetings. Personally I think we are as strong defensively as we have been at any time in the past 15 years of matches against them.

A work in progress going forwards, but we are still #1 in Lancs.

Interesting comment on being as strong defensively than in previous encounters

I took a look at who played in the centre of defence in the previous games

When you look at that it’s even more pleasing we won the league at Ewood with what is the “weakest” partnership there :D
