Only referring to the guys who’ve played this season plus Ekdal ,and would let Ramsey and Beyer out on loan .

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
He's 35 and probably realises that Newcastle will be looking to replace him in the summer (if Saints go down I wonder if they'll get Ramsdale?).
In the short term he could stay and possibly win a trophy and face the prospect of looking for a club in the summer or he could get a move to Saudi now with a big contract.
Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Indeed. Are Newcastle realy going to risk playing a new goalkeeper in the second leg against Arsenal when it's a great chance to get to a final?
Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
If we lose Trafford and Josh then that would be a blow to our promotion hopes. Far better to have Josh leave for free in the summer

36 next week.
2 year contract in Saudi probably sets his family up for life.
No brainer for him

Fair enough but waiting till summer would make more sense. Especially if they want Trafford.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2025 1:26 pm36 next week.

How many reasons do you want?
Don't want/need him
He doesn't want to come
Someone else lined up.....

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Absolute bargain!
Only had 6 months left on his contract though, so it’s that or leave on a free in summer.
Really disappointed that we didn’t go in for him and especially at that price. Can only assume we couldn’t afford wages or Parker didn’t fancy him.
Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
This looks like a serious move by them. Slightly jealous they are signing him for the 10 and we are signing Ashley Barnes for the 10. Sunderland now have a midfield of Neil, Bellingham, Le Fee and Rigg - looks stronger than ours.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2025 7:03 pmEnzo Le Fée confirmed loan to Sunderland, big signing for them
Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
It will be interesting to see how they all fit in though and if the change in dynamic effects their success as a team unit.

We might not sign a 10 but we certainly haven’t signed Ashley Barnes to be our number 10

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Bit frustrating they’re signing him before we play them too.
Can’t say I know anything about him other than the race reviews on here. Looked up his stats and seems to have been two seasons since he has posted any numbers at all.
Let’s hope it takes him a while to get in his rhythm at Sunderland.
Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Yeah it was under their coach at Lorient he was one of the top chance creators in Europe. It’s probably similar to us having a fully fit and committed Tresor in this league, funny enough it was the same season they put up amazing numbers.NewClaret wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2025 7:42 pmBit frustrating they’re signing him before we play them too.

That doesn’t mean we have signed him to play there, it’s poor to compare the signing Sunderland are about to make to us re signing Barnes

Opposition fans might have been saying the same thing about us when we signed the guy with the most assists in the Belgium league.

A few goals in the French top flight doesn't worry me tbh.
Rouwen Hennings once bagged 15 goals in a season for Fortuna Düsseldorf in the Bundesliga, after leaving Burnley.

I’ll take your word for it but 0 goals 0 assists in 10 this year and 0 goals and 4 assists in 35 last year don’t appear the most frightening stats on the face of things.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2025 8:10 pmAnyone that’s actually seen this lad play will know just how good of a signing that is.

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
He can't be the best player in the league having never played here, he might not be up to it in England. Similar to when people say Tresor gets into our best 11.
Sunderland obviously rate him having reportedly committed to a €23m obligation to buy if they get promoted. So definitely an ambitious signing, but we've seen ourselves how those deals can go tits up.

Adapting to English football and particularly the Championship may take some time as well. I’m sure a few said that magic Mike would be just that for us!!
I’ll be interested to see him play, next Friday, if he plays.

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
I remember watching him at Lorient a couple of years ago (when I wanted us to sign him in the summer we got promoted).
He’s a top player that’s had a bad move. I’m just amazed he’s willing to drop to the championship (IMO he’s actually exactly what we need).
Big statement from Sunderland. Got to imagine this might kick the likes of us and the other two into similar moves
