But this isn’t true. Replays were scrapped due to the European competitions being expanded and therefore reducing the number of midweek slots.
In other words, to benefit the likes of Tottenham. Like I said.
I don't see any reason why Tottenham reserves couldn't play an FA Cup game in the same week as their first team plays a meaningless European qualifier. After all, to use the same argument as was used for Burnley playing a reserve side, they aren't going to win it, are they.

It wasn’t to benefit the likes of Tottenham though. It was to allow English clubs to compete in the European competitions. And you obviously do see a reason why Tottenham couldn’t have a European fixture a day before an FA cup replay.

Football's better when it's about which team wins and not about which team can get some money for drawing. Can attest to this especially because if we'd had to have a replay v Reading the crowd would have been about 5,000.

I reckon their fans would rather beat Spurs than draw against them and get a replay. But anyway, pros and cons to scrapping replays, and we saw the benefit of it yesterday.
I’ve not seen any benefit in scrapping replays today - I’ve seen Tamworth miss out on one.

I hope the ball they are using in the FA Cup meets with Arteta’s approval.

Yes, I agree that expecting Spurs reserves to play their Cup replay on Friday wouldn't work. But they could play on Tuesday.

Still odd with the camouflaged numbers though.

I don’t think teams ever play a weekend fixture followed by two mid week fixtures and for obvious reasons. You’re being disingenuous by suggesting that a team could reasonably be expected to play Saturday/Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday.

They can rotate the squad.
If they haven't got the squads to play in 4 competitions, let them withdraw from the League Cup (as Burnley used to do). That would free up 3 extra dates.

Tamworth should take the FA to court and sue for loss of earnings. Happen some of the legal eagles on here could comment on the validity of a potential claim.

Bruno Fernandes throwing a strop, players throwing themselves to the floor at every opportunity and just general snide football.
The red card was bound to happen, I can’t see it being the last in this game.

Havertz knocks it to the side of Maguire then drops like a tombstone.

I’m sure most neutrals would want Man Utd to win this today. Which says a lot about the way Arsenal have gone over the years.

Let's not pretend that we don't have players who feign injury at the merest touch.
Connor Roberts the obvious one.
