We went to Albania for a week last February, touring around in a hire car which included three nights in Tirana. We found it fascinating considering it had been a secretive country and only opened up to tourists in the 1990s.
Everything was good value compared to most countries in Europe. Our small hotel in Tirana was £27 per night B & B for two of us.
All the people were very friendly, until they got behind the wheel of a car! The roads were not in the best condition, potholes being the main problem.
A short distance out of Tirana was Lake Bovilla, which we would highly recommend visiting, if you can get there! Fortunately we had the car, otherwise not sure if public transport would get you there.
I put together a short video of our trip which covers most of the things to see in Tirana.
Have a great time.

Went two years ago in October and had a great time, some great sights.

Attached is link to guide that I used with some of the places I visited, the 2 Bunk' Art nuclear bunkers are amazing and Grand Park is a stunning walk around a man made lake.
