The James Corden lookalike minder guy sounds like he scours social media to stay abreast of what everyone is saying, whereas many players sensibly do not.
I’m sure positive vibes from fans are passed onto the players casually and selectively.

It's his job to, he's player welfare isn't he?

Trafford is such a young kid and seems rather shy, shame on all the posters that gave him so much grief last season,he will eventually be a full England international

Can you imagine having tens of thousands (or more) critiquing your work every week. Most people in the workplaces I have ever experienced, get annoyed at 1 piece of criticism or one poor performance review.
You can argue that the money they earn and public eye is something that they have to accept and sign up to but there is definitely a worrying trend of people feel that they can say what they want and it has no consequence on those that they are talking about.
Sounds like these young players have their heads screwed on and are rightly protected from this as much as possible.

You make a good point about how we all would take deep offence to the slightest criticism about our performance at work yet dish it out without thought about how it effects young people making their way in their careers.clarethomer wrote: ↑Fri Jan 17, 2025 12:49 pmCan you imagine having tens of thousands (or more) critiquing your work every week. It’s incredible how young players get completely written off on the back of a few poor or average performances.
CJ being a great example of a player who was “league one standard” in pre-season and we’re all now desperate to get extended as one of our best players.
Koleosho was worth £40m after his goal at Leeds and later should be used as a loan makeweight to secure Whittaker, who’s had an equally uninspiring season.
You couldn’t make it up. I agree as a footballer it’s probably part of the territory and you hope our club protects them properly and that they’ve had the right support at previous clubs to prepare them for this scrutiny as a professional, but it’s really no surprise that some end up with issues like Foster. They are only human after all.
