Great article - definitely feels like whatever issues we had in the dressing room last season and up until the end of the summer window have been comprehensively repaired.

Yes, a very good article.
There's also a small article in the Mail by Nathan Salt .
In trying to explain our defences efficiency, he says that "Sources close to the Burnley dressing room have pointed to the impact of assistant coach Mike Jackson, who works particularly closely with the defenders."
Eliot Tybebo also gets a mention.

Don't know how accurate all that is, but it's nice to hear
MJ get praised. He just seems to crack on with things.

From the article:

If Burnley maintain their current goals-conceded-per-game average of 0.35 they will finish the campaign with the best defensive record in the history of the professional English game, eclipsing Liverpool in 1978-79, when Bob Paisley’s team let in 16 goals across 42 games at an average of 0.38 per match en route to the old First Division title.

wow that is amazing

That was my immediate fear too. A bit like "commentator's curse"

We’re clearly doing lots right in the defensive department, but I’m always a bit sceptical about these articles where the players say what they think the magic formula is.

They always talk about how much fitter the current squad is compared to other squads they have been in. They always talk about how much better the atmosphere is in the dressing room than most places they’ve been before. They always praise the unique level of detail the manager goes into.

This was all said about Kompany two years ago and is said about most clubs having a period of success.

The unique angle here is how we’ve gelled a historically mean defence following a high player turnover, but even so I tend to take a lot of these articles with a pinch of salt.

Things were unprecedentedly good under Kompany too, until they weren’t.

Agree with this.

The players work extremely hard but there’s also a heck of a lot of luck involved in keeping the cleansheets. Two dodgy penalties and a clear onside move for Preston could easily see another three goals added to the records and in doing so, wiping two cleansheets. It’s a hugely successful run that we’re on but we know how it can massively change, especially at a higher level. Ultimately though, I’m chuffed for the defensive unit and the team as a whole, for who we try to defend.
