I had a flat provided in one of the nicer areas of London until recently and it was very pleasant. The city is fantastic, has got something for everyone (even naysayers on here) but it is exhausting. I was always glad to be heading home for a proper rest and then excited heading in again the week after. I couldn't live there permanently myself but glad I got the opportunity to experience it. My missus is less impressed, she hates it. Who knew? People are different and like different things!
Yes but you don't ever hear a West Ham fan on TalkSport saying .... ere Cundy sack that David Moyes it's the worst football I've ever seen wiv me mince pies and me and the Mrs could have been daaaaaarn the ballet watching Swan Lake and eating a bit of fois gras at Chez Bruce. Up the Irons....!

As far as I can tell the average West Ham fan could be dropped in Burnley, park his fat *rse in Weatherspoons and probably wouldn't notice that he hadn't left Barking or wherever.

It's not that London is a sh*thole worse than any other it's just a sh*hole that's more expensive and harder work than any other.

H Pete, I've got tickets to Sadler's Wells later this week, Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake. Last few years I've been to Sadler's Wells a number of times. A great evening out. Of course, I've also watched many, many games that Burnley have played in London and the south for many years.

Came down to south west London more than 35 years ago when work moved me here. Met my wife in Manchester 10 years before that. Easy move for us because she was a London girl and family all down here.

I'm guessing the cost of living there is much higher than Burnley, but is it 68% higher? That would be a better marker. How far does that salary increase take you? Or are you actually worse off living in London despite a higher salary?
Probably 168% higher. Have you ever looked at the cost of a house (buying or renting). I always laugh if I see Eastenders. People who work on a back street market or even unemployed living in houses worth millions. Just the cost of housing there puts me off.

I think the percentage of people who attend Ballet is around 4%. It's not the norm.

And there is no conflict in my mind watching ballet and football.

My point was not that London is worse than anywhere else or to stereotype Londoners rather for the majority it is likely pretty much the same experience as elsewhere but harder to achieve.
