We must be banking on one of the u21s being in the matchday squad because we have no senior player who fits the home grown at club quota, unless we are only going to name 8 subs on the bench

Shame he won’t get a send off he deserves. All the best Jay. him and fletcher up top. Now if you’d have said that strikforce in 2012 it would be amazing. Still might be.

Surely Rodriguez leaving means a striker is coming in, we haven't got a championship quality striker in the squad no way promotion follows a squad like that.
Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
It would be best for all concerned if Jay-Rod left as he offers little whenever he's on the pitch.

Sorry I don’t get the love in for J Rod ,just looking at his stats and he was brilliant first time round ,31 in 105 ,this time round 25 in 164 ,supposedly sold for £7miil and brought back for £10 an overall cost of £3 mill ,surely Ashley Barnes 51 in 268 for bobbins is a bigger success.blatherwickstattoos wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 3:40 pmShame he won’t get a send off he deserves. Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
I’m sure that Jay will get the writeup he deserves in the days to come. “You’ll always be a Claret” is truer than ever.
I wonder if this is why we brought Ash back? These deals can bubble over for a while.
It does seem this clears the way for at least one incoming. We have shipped out two strikers in this window, brought in one (a pensioner), moved one out wide, and are playing a midfielder up front as a kind of false 9. Obvious why we are scoring so few goals.
Hard to believe we won’t add to that with a striker more in the mould Parker fancies up there (target man type I would guess).

No real surprise for Jay Rod going to Wrexham. Dave Jones 1st team coach and Steve Fletcher one of the strikers. Strong Burnley connections.

I don’t get the superb servant ,he left to better himself and came back it’s no big deal ,I’ve nothing against him but if we’re talking about superb servants surely he can’t be compared to the likes of Brian Miller ,John Angus, Leighton James and quite a few more.Robbie_painter wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 4:19 pmThe love in for J Rod as you put it is because he’s one of our own and has been a superb servant to the club.

It doesn’t affect us in this window though. Whatever happens to Brownhill between now and leaving, I’m sure as club captain that he will give his all for us.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 4:31 pmMight be wrong but think Brownhill can sign a pre contract agreement now

What a weird comparison. It's before my time but didn't Leighton James leave and then come back whilst also having very little link to the town after he'd gone?Stonehouse wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 4:32 pmI don’t get the superb servant ,he left to better himself and came back it’s no big deal ,I’ve nothing against him but if we’re talking about superb servants surely he can’t be compared to the likes of Brian Miller ,John Angus, Leighton James and quite a few more.
It's like people don't get how rare it is for someone from Burnley to come all the way through the youth levels and go on to play for England.
I've been watching for 25 years and he's been the only one so far.
I doubt I will see it happen again.
His strong links to Pendleside hospice has been brilliant to see as well.

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
I wish there were more to come through the youth ranks. Football has lost that in general. When you think of clubs you think of players that embody that clubs spirit. Maldini at Milan, totti at Roma, scholes, giggs, Neville at United etc. makes a team more special in my opinion.

Surprisingly you can have more than one superb servant.Stonehouse wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 4:32 pmI don’t get the superb servant ,he left to better himself and came back it’s no big deal ,I’ve nothing against him but if we’re talking about superb servants surely he can’t be compared to the likes of Brian Miller ,John Angus, Leighton James and quite a few more.
If your criteria includes not being able to leave to better themselves then that’s going to rule out a lot of great players for us - including Taffy.
Not sure what it is you do not get from someone who has played for so long and done so well for us. To play this many games for Burnley in the top 2 leagues, and to have the attitude and love for the club he has clearly had is not going to be something that happens very often in the future….certainly not under these owners and their revolving doors.

The reason I mentioned James that he game back to us when we were really struggling and even played centre half and absolutely loved Burnley and if Jay hadn’t have had that horrendous injury he may not have even come back.Goliath wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 4:37 pmWhat a weird comparison. I mentioned James remember when he came back and we were struggling and finished up playing fullback and centre half and put his heart and soul into trying to save us and played his heart out at the Orient gameGoliath wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 4:37 pmWhat a weird comparison. Just like Jay played his heart out for us last season when we were getting absolutely battered by Arsenal etc. He was the one showing fight.Stonehouse wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 4:44 pmI mentioned James remember when he came back and we were struggling and finished up playing fullback and centre half and put his heart and soul into trying to save us and played his heart out at the Orient game
Luckily we are quite a lot more successful these days so we don't have these mythical Orient type games to save the club
