Neymar - Jonathan Wilson

Post by mikeS » Sun Feb 02, 2025 10:50 am

Sorry chaps - he's not coming to us.
He has re signed for Santos his old club and taken a 99% pay cut.
Your will remember 18 months ago he signed for Saudi club Al-Hilal for £77m on a salary of £2.5 million a week.
He's only made seven appearances, contributing three assists and scored one goal.
Al-Hilal are paying 85% of his contract to the end of the season.
Total bill for his services, £322m.

Will go down as the second worst value for money deal in the history of football….after the Jonathan Walters to Burnley deal

I suspect the value a player like Neymar adds to Saudi football has little to do with what he does on the pitch and that his stats have little bearing on whether he has been value for money.
