Email Issues
I am currently unable to receive emails from a couple of friends, even though I can email them. Does anyone on here know what may be causing the problem, or who I could follow up with. My provider is BT Broadband. Any help or suggestions would be really appreciated

Re: Email Issues
Will give it a try- thanks Row x
Re: Email Issues
Have you checked they're not going into a spam/junk folder?
Are your friends getting bounce back/non delivery emails which may specify the reason they're not deliverable?
If their ISP uses dynamic IP addresses, it may be they've picked up a blacklisted IP adddress which has previously been used by spammers.
If they know their IP, they can check blacklists at
dnschecker.org/ip-blacklist-checker.php

Re: Email Issues
Thanks Robinoz-the answer to the first two points is yes checked spam, and no tehos trying to email me are not getting bounce back/non delivery emails. But I will check your other two points
Re: Email Issues
I don't know how you access your email - email program or email through a browser. If you use an email client/program which is using pop3 as popped to IMAP, then try logging into webmail at:warksclaret wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2025 9:13 pmThanks Robinoz-the answer to the first two points is yes checked spam, and no tehos trying to email me are not getting bounce back/non delivery emails. https://email.bt.com/mail/index-tui.jsp?v=ci-MX_3.8.0
and see if there's separate junk/email folders there as they may be getting flagged as spam at isp (BT) level before they get to your device/pc. That's happened to me in the past
Re: Email Issues
Actually, I was assuming you have a BT email address in the post above. After reading your initial post, I realise that may not be the case, but same idea- if you can, try accessing via webmail in a browser.

Re: Email Issues
I had this problem with btmail it wouldnt accept emails from hotmail or gmail accounts, there was a setting in the account that had to be changed, i will see if i can find what I did, this was about 5 years ago.
Re: Email Issues
Says this on a bt help site:
Log onto your BTMail account using a browser, not an email client/app, and then click on your username at the right hand side. Select "Settings" then go to the left hand side and select "Mail". Scroll down and click on "Blocked Senders". Scroll down the list until you find the addresses you want to unblock and select it also look for the gmail/hotmail/etc. domain, (the part after @). Click on "delete".

Re: Email Issues
I once had email problems whilst using a VPN. Immediately cured when I went back to normal.

Re: Email Issues
Yes as someone else pointed out nord VPN can be a problem, so if you are using a VPN see if it has a slit tunnelling option you can omit the email app from your VPN

Re: Email Issues
That happened to me. If I ever use a vpn, next day I get a message telling me there has been strange happenings, so they have stopped my email account, until I reset the password!Tricky Trevor wrote: ↑Mon Feb 10, 2025 11:21 amI once had email problems whilst using a VPN.
