Blackpool to Preston
Staying at the Norbreck castle for the weekend (I know but it's cheap) probably have a heavy night Friday so I don't fancy driving to Preston. So my question is what's the best way of getting to dumpdale and time to set off to have a pint before the game, cheers

I could write a book on my trip there 5 years ago, booked last minute without checking the reviews, it will be a good craic if you prepare yourself for it though tbf

Best to have a night on the lash and then book an Uber home with what you would have spent staying over in HMP Norbreck.Burnley1989 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 10, 2025 3:10 pmHonestly, don't do it![]()

It was, once upon a time, the best hotel in Blackpool.

I think it was a £50 deal on my booking app so booked it last minute and headed over with the kids for the lights and arcades without checking any reviews on the hotel, I just noticed it had a pool so assumed it would be ok for one night, needless to say we checked out at 7am and went to McDonalds for breakfast.Clovius Boofus wrote: ↑Mon Feb 10, 2025 3:46 pmBest to have a night on the lash and then book an Uber home with what you would have spent staying over in HMP Norbreck.
The only hotel I've ever stayed in that had a slug in the bed, yes a slug! The lady on reception said ''you must have brought that in with you''

Re: Blackpool to Preston
Sounds about right. It's grim. Some friends of ours were supposed to stay over for a couple of nights with their kids during the Covid summer. They, too, ended up leaving first thing in the morning.Burnley1989 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 10, 2025 3:54 pmThe only hotel I've ever stayed in that had a slug in the bed, yes a slug! Well, I had a blooded hand print on the back of the bathroom door, you honestly couldn't write it.

Hope you're fully vaccinated staying there
but as others say, train is the best way, doesn't take long to get to Preston.

It's now a complete shite hole as most Brittania owned hotels are.We stayed there one time never again.Dirty bedding and filthy bathroom with a joke buffet breakfast.

I see. Then I'd have stayed over in Preston. It's a decent night out. Blackpool nightlife is the dregs.

Stayed there, each bedroom wall was decorated in a different era. Mate checked in and on arrival in his room found there was a tramp asleep in his bed.

Re: Blackpool to Preston
Don’t do it , we had a wardrobe in front of an adjoining room door , guess what there was no back in the wardrobe
Also there was an armed robbery in reception while we were there , now that wasn’t funny.

The guy on the tram who calls out the stops calls it 'Fawlty Towers', though I doubt staying there is anywhere near amusing.

Thanks for all the info, just swapped hotels, glad I had free cancellation
Re: Blackpool to Preston
That wasn’t a tramp, it was the ex-porter from the Keirby Hotel. Don’t want to imagine what he had done in the bed though.

Can you speak Swahili or Albanian to chat with the residents there?

It's worse than I thought. You'd have a better time spending the night in a bus shelter.

I wouldn't like to visit the six hotels in Blackpool that are worse than the Norbreck.Goalposts wrote: ↑Mon Feb 10, 2025 7:58 pmI think you just made the wisest decision of your life. Trip adviser reviews below to see what youve avoided.

Apparently the Blue Hotel at the Pleasure Beach is of a good standard, although I have never used it.
