Microsoft 365 - renewal advice

Post by ClaretTony » Mon Feb 17, 2025 11:59 am

About 3-4 years ago, through advice on here, I purchased Microsoft 365, My subscription runs out at the end of this week and the auto renewal is going to cost me around £85. I've previously purchased cheaper from Amazon but can't find anything this time, does anyone know where I could get it cheaper?

Check Ebay. There are keys always sold on the cheap. They do get deleted but you're talking a lot less than the above.

Ebay ones can go down after days/weeks though.

Worth it if you don't mind gambling that.

The listing is removed but I've used the same process for years and it's never failed.

I think the cheap cheap ones are generally not legit, you might have some luck with them working but they could get pulled at some point

Before you fork out an extortionate amount for Microsoft 365, I'd download LibreOffice which is a free open source suite to see if it meets all your needs. I've been using it for years and it is compatible with all Microsoft 365 files.

Library office is free, easy to use, very similar to Ms office. Would recommend anyone to give it a go, you won't look back.

I forgot to cancel a month ago. It feels like a waste of £60 as I hardly use it. Libre Office is good according to a colleague of mine who has more idea about this stuff than I do :D

£42 for 15 months from here

You can stack them so you can buy a few and add them to your account and they will apply one after the other.

If you use the OneDrive online storage then MS365 is worth it, cheaper than the other options for storage and you get office too.

If not you may be better buying a one-off version.

I use Libre Office as well. I don't use it enough to make paying worth while.

I'm not sure what I've done but I did purchase from Amazon and it didn't stack at all and I'm not sure now whether they've added a new account and I'll still be billed for the original next week.

aggi - I shouldn't have rushed into it but it is not as big a catastrophe as I thought it was. I've just spoken to someone at Amazon who has explained the situation. It was due for renewal next week but they no longer have the ones that can stack so it has immediately started a new one and cancelled the other account. So, thankfully, I'm not running two accounts.

Great info Aggi. To help me understand the process to renew via purchase at the link (apologies if this seems obvious), am I right in thinking that if I buy this I will get a code and will then need to input this after logging in to my account and choosing the annual subscription?
I currently pay by monthly subscription through apple, it expires at the beginning of March and will increase from £5.99 to £8.49 pm so will cancel that and purchase from the link instead if everything is relatively straightforward.

Yes, you get a code. It's not that obvious on your account where to enter that code but I followed the instructions here
https://static.exertisztorm.net/files/s ... -02-10.pdf

It's an annual code so you don't need to select a subscription, it will tell you when it will expire.
