Win Friday and at worst the gap will be back to 4 points this time next week. It may even by as small as 2 points.

Maybe Sunderland should have been more cautious so deep into stoppage time and made sure of the draw.

Completely agree. It’s been so frustrating to see us commit so little going forward when teams have been there for the taking.

This gives clarity now.
Let Leeds continue to win, we just have one target - to overhaul Sheff Utd.
Sunderland won't get past us.

Can just imagine how the turf would react if Parker put on a defensive midfielder and a centre half when chasing the win. Ffs, some of you are so reactionary it’s untrue.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2025 9:59 pmAlways going to happen.
They go for it to try and win games. Look at the subs they made and the change in tactics
Re: Leeds v Sunderland
Take a defensive midfielder off and bring on a more attack minded one, what are these mad tactics.

Re: Leeds v Sunderland
Given its almost certain that Leeds will win the league and Burnley will finish in the play offs who would you rather come second and avoid? Sunderland have had our number this season and when on song play the best football whereas Sheff Utd are probably a bit stronger overall.
I think Burnley would really struggle against Sunderland at Wembley so would prefer them to finish second

At the death they won it with a shot so far off target, and so badly hit, it wouldn’t have even gone out for a throw in. And then the keeper made a complete Horlick on the cross. And a bunch of lemons say that’s a lesson to us in how we should be playing. Give your heads a serious wobble. DL got lucky, very lucky.

The change my mate was crying out for - Rothwell far more forward thinking than Gruev.dandeclaret wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2025 10:07 pmCan just imagine how the turf would react if Parker put on a defensive midfielder and a centre half when chasing the win. Re: Leeds v Sunderland
Sunderland didn't really deserve anything from that. They played the 2nd half living on hope. Leeds the best team in the Championship. 2nd spot is up for grabs.

With respect I think this is a bit of nonsense. Who knows where we would have been with a different manager. As it is, we are in a fantastic position.Newchurch Claret wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2025 10:03 pmAnd there you have it. A team that tries to win. Wants to score. Wants to play attractive, attacking football. Fair play to Leeds.
All those 0-0 results and the clean sheet record mean nothing.
This could so easily have been Burnley with this talented squad but we chose Parker and, under his stewardship, they are underperforming massively. It’s a crying shame.
We’ve still got Sheffield United at home and effectively we go up if we win our games at the expense of them.
In my opinion, Parker has done a fantastic job up to this point. For sure we’d all love to have a few more goals and some more attacking football, but really we are in a pretty good spot as we are.

Re: Leeds v Sunderland
I can never want Leeds to win, but the truth is they do look a better side than us and whilst it’s not as impossible as some are suggesting, think it’s very unlikely we will catch them. So we’ve effectively gone 4 points clear of Sunderland this weekend considering goal difference. We should be favourites to finish above them. Sheff Utd will be difficult to hunt down, but they have Leeds up next and still have to come to Turf Moor for what could be a defining game for both teams.

They absolutely refuse to accept defeat. Result was never in doubt for me… even at 0-1 I knew they’d throw it all forward. They believe in themselves and back themselves. If it ain’t working, they make changes and make it work for them. They have a never say die attitude. I feckin hate it.

It doesn't change my opinion. Leeds did them at set pieces.
Sunderland have frailties at the back but they have an excellent side.

Re: Leeds v Sunderland
Leeds were 1-0 down. Course they were going to bring on attacking subs to get back into the game. They get their second from shanked cross following a corner where they still had loads of bodies in the box.
I don’t doubt that Farke has a less cautious approach than Parker (although not all Leeds fans agree and find his football dull), but tonight was hardly evidence of some sort of polar opposite approach to playing football.

Or because we can't score a set piece and they've just scored 2 in about 20 mins to turn the game around.RickyBobby wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2025 10:09 pmThat is why Leeds will go up automatically and we won’t.

They went 1-1 at the 78 minute, the manager instantly brought on another striker and a winger to try and win the game.dandeclaret wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2025 10:07 pmCan just imagine how the turf would react if Parker put on a defensive midfielder and a centre half when chasing the win. Re: Leeds v Sunderland
Leeds kept the ball so much better than Sunderland and it showed. Sunderland were spent with 25 minutes to go.
Leeds get their full backs so much higher up the pitch and use Tanarka as that central pivot. In contrast, I cannot remember Roberts getting into the final third on Saturday. In Cullen, we have technically the best footballer in the Championship... he doesn't need both full backs over each shoulder and Laurent in his pocket.

Re: Leeds v Sunderland
People pointing to the Sheff Utd game at home, what is there to suggest Parker will set his team up any differently to when we played Leeds?

Re: Leeds v Sunderland
I think part of it is having a big, bruising centre half who loves attacking them, like Struijk did tonight - have ER or Esteve won a header from our attacking set piece all season? They’ve done quite well at a few other bits, to be fair, so I’ll let them off.

Re: Leeds v Sunderland
At least we know what to if we have to play Sunderland in the playoffs, just whip balls into the box at pace , they looked very shaky from those crosses ( Edwards could do this ) .

As I've said many times fortune favours the brave, they got lucky because they were trying for a winner. How many times this season have we played the last 10 mins as if we were happy with the point.Claretincraven wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2025 10:08 pmAt the death they won it with a shot so far off target, and so badly hit, it wouldn’t have even gone out for a throw in. IF we fail to go up it won't be because we weren't good enough, but because we weren't brave enough.

A win for DL, ably assisted by Sunlan constantly giving the ball away
very cheaply in the second half. It was like a hot potato.
Poor side tonight.

Sunderland looked shot & tired maybe if that rigg stopped on it might have been different but he was on a yellow. Leeds just moved up a gear in the second half in the first half it was Sunderland's whatever farke said at half time it did the trick. That stryk fella always comes up with important goals i can remember the last min equaliser or winner (can't remember) last time they was in the PL against somebody when they was in the relegation battle.

For those saying why cant we attack teams like Leeds do, the forwards on their bench is stronger than those in our starting 11
Re: Leeds v Sunderland
We can say that we have been in this situation 14 times this season (14 Draws) and not had the tactics, bravery or craft to break down many pretty average championship teams.

Are you related to Scott Parker by any chance, you've been talking some absolute nonsense on this board since the weekend.dandeclaret wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2025 10:13 pmGriev’s a crab, Rothwell is hardly an attacking midfielder. I've been going for 20 years and I don't think heard 'howls of derision' at any of our own managers. Laws.was the closest but I only heard it completely turn away at Barnsley
