It's all noise from Newcastle about them being "confident" they can get him without much trouble.

If we stay down then I yeah, we'll probably have to sell around £20-£25m. If we go up it'll surely take the ~£40m buy back amount that Man City have for him.

Tbf I could see City activate the buy back at the last minute to prevent Newcastle from getting him. They're going to need to reset somewhat ahead of next season and there's been noise about Ederson leaving and I doubt they'd consider Ortega a long term number 1.

Pal of mine who's a big Geordie reckons they're trying to get all three. JT, CJ And Steve. I told him where to go and stop winding me up, but then I though about it. It wouldn't actually be the worst move for a club.

You get a probable future England keeper, a highly valuable, and pretty rare left sided centre back, and a lad whose burst onto the scene and is out of contract. You could argue £60 million gets you all that including any compensation, and in return you get 3 fabulous, young players, seemingly with the world at their feet, who also know each others games inside out.

He's got me panicking now!!!!!! :)

Never minded Newcastle and arguably had a soft spot for them until they relegated us and spent all game laughing and goading us.

My best mates a Geordie and I love them as people, but hate the club now

I have always hated them since 1974 especially Malcolm Macdonald as a 9 year old it must have took me at least 20 years to get over that game

I thought he had already left in January and we had to use Hladky. That's what many of the Jaudis were saying last month.

Gary Hunt did an interview this week with CJ for Radio Lancs. He seems to think he wants to stay. Just like most things in football, it's down to the money.

Can see Man City coming in for all three if we don't achieve promotion in view of the reset needed there. Maybe a bidding war between the oil oligarchs.....

If we stay down ( I think unlikely ) we’ll be understandably be stripped out again JT, CJ, Steve and our “ obligations “ to buy on the likes of BH, Edwards ,JA, Sarm etc would be also be tricky . The flip side of course will be promotion and top money for Steve , JT and CJ . Though the JT deal has assorted whistles n bells so not sure what we’d actually make .

Not sure Steeeve is a Pep player at the moment. I'm sure he rates him and respects him, but he's a fantastic player for us, just as the other 2 are. Think there's a chance we could get Steeeve to give us at least another season in the prem, and hopefully we can get CJ to sign a 4/5 year contract, with a non promotion clause, and release fee to be agreed. Personally if CJ agreed I'd make it £40m. He'd probably agree at nearer to £25m, if he's prepared to sign a deal.
Trafford I think goes. I'd be massively surprised if he wants to extend his stay, although I'd love him to.
Hopefully we'll be able to afford a top quality replacement, maybe a number 2 somewhere, who wants to play.

I’d take £150m for all three (assuming CJ signs a contact very quickly!)

Ok here’s a question

If Newcastle are after Trafford, would we consider taking back Pope as part of the deal?

I think only Esteve is ready for the PL, I honestly don't think any of the rest of our team are really ready for the PL. Some like CJ, Trafford, Robert's, Flemming could possibly go to lower ranked PL clubs.

I'm not sure Flemming would make the step up if we persist in using him as a 9 and I've seen nothing from him to suggest he'd make a premier league 10 either, I honestly wouldn't be bothered at all if he didn't sign in the summer.

We may consider Pope but I doubt very much he would consider us - cannot compete with his current wages so move on

Maybe by continuing to keep the ball out of our net?

Yeah, he's a great keeper, but he really wouldn't be comfortable with the way we play at the back.
