50 years ago today…
…I graced the hallowed Turf for the first time. I’d never shown much interest in football before then but I’ll never forget the buzz and the excitement I felt that day. We beat Sheff Utd 2-1 and went second in the old first division - it remains the high watermark of my Burnley-supporting career!
Just wanted to mark the occasion.

Remember the game. Leighton James giving their full back, Len Badger, a torrid time. We played away at Coventry a couple of weeks later, won 0-3 and were hoping for an Arsenal victory over Everton which would have put us top of the league. Heady days indeed.

My 50th anniversary is coming up in August, a 0-0 draw with Arsenal in the first game of the 75/76 season. We must be a similar vintage!

You picked a great time to start.
We'd a wonderful side, back then. No side in the country they couldn't beat.

My 50th anniversary coming up too, 22 March 1975, 3-3 v Arsenal. Can’t believe it’s that long ago.

I'm into my 51st year

Re: 50 years ago today…
After that win over Coventry we won just once more out of the last ten games. We then went on to be relegated the following season and did not return to the top flight for over 30 years. How can that be called a 'great time to start'?

Re: 50 years ago today…
Can anyone identify my first game for me?
Mid to late 60s as I was in the region of age 5
In the old stand before the Bob Lord
I don’t remember much but I know it was Spurs and we either went 4 up and drew 4-4 or they went 4-0 up and we came back to draw 4-4. I think Jimmy Greaves scored a hat trick.
Only thing I remember is being tiny and everyone jumping up all around me.
Any idea?

Take your pick from the 60's
Re: 50 years ago today…
You use that as an excuse for not being there. Call yourself a supporter

I remember mine being reminded of it with Dennis Laws recent funeral ,a 1-0 home defeat to Manure in the season where he scored 45 goals early 60s?
