Burnley FC ISA - 'Claret and You' Survey Outcomes

'Claret and You' Survey Outcomes

Good Morning all,

You may have seen recently that we opened a survey ('Claret and You') on various platforms, including Up The Clarets, that hit upon various topics with the aim of ensuring that our Independent Supporters Association is truly representing the voice of the fans, and understands what really matters to Burnley supporters.

We are delighted to say that we had over 550 responses, which is a terrific level of engagement and truly shows how passionate Burnley fans are about having a strong, independent voice.

At Burnley FC Independent Supporters Association (BFCISA), our mission is clear:

“BFCISA is a fan-led group dedicated to representing the interests and voices of Burnley FC supporters. We aim to foster a closer connection between the club and its fans, ensuring that supporters’ perspectives and concerns are heard and valued in key decision-making processes. We stand as a unified, independent body working to enhance fan engagement, maintain traditions, and advocate for transparency and accountability within the club across both the Men’s and Women’s teams.”

The feedback we have received will prove truly valuable to us as we work to shape BFCISA with the clear mandate of representing the voice of the fans.

Key headlines from our survey response were:

1. Burnley Supporters value their connection with the club, which is traditionally family-driven

· 60% of our respondents are season ticket holders; 30% attend at least half of the home games.

2. Ticket pricing and the associated cost of attending a football match is a concern and a priority for fans

· 70% of respondents believe that home matchday tickets are overpriced.

· 55% of fans believe that food, drink and club merchandise are very overpriced.

3. Overall ticketing experience needs improvement.

· The overwhelming majority of respondents voiced varying concerns.

4. Across the board, fans have numerous constructive suggestions of where improvements could be made.

· There is a clear appetite from fans to discuss where things could improve.

5. Communication (with and by the club) is one of the most critical issues for the Burnley fanbase.

· The vast majority of fans repeatedly expressed a desire for better two-way communication.

These early findings will now inform how we progress as an association over the coming months, following our intended official launch in April, 2025. There will be further information, in the form of an e-mail, about how to join, soon.

We're still actively seeking volunteers from all parts of our fanbase, especially those whose opinions are traditionally underrepresented.

BFCISA should truly reflect the diversity of our supporters, and that means we need people from different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives to help shape it. Whether you want to help behind the scenes or take a more active role, please do get in touch.

How to join BurnleyFCISA

We will be opening up membership applications soon, following our formal launch.
If you're interested in helping to organise at this stage, message us at burnleyfcisa@gmail.com.

Thanks again for your support—expect more updates!

BFCISA

Great effort from those involved in setting up and analysing this survey.

I wonder how many people wanting better communication were referring to the specifics of players' injuries.

The survey wasn't related to anything on the playing side so I would say none

Well done. Good survey.

Not surprised by the responses, other than the Comms thing.

I think it's one area where the club has come on leaps and bounds, the amount of videos, interviews and general information we get from the club has improved dramatically over the last few years. I suspect the "two way" part threw people, other than the ticket office and the shop I'm not sure what communication people would expect to have with the club

I think communication is more the lack of fan engagement

Which means 30% of fans think our ticket prices are okay and 45% think the catering and merchandise prices are okay.

I've never met these people.

I can only go off personal experience
I'm one of the 30% but not the 45%

60% of those who did it are season ticket holders.

I’d like to see a break down of the results from season ticket and non season ticket holders.

What I’d be interested to know is how this new group fits in compared to say the Clarets Trust? Also applaud these types of efforts but I’d hate to see fan opinion diluted by conflicting groups, aims and opinions all fighting for the same airtime.

I remember this question on the survey and thought and the time it would benefit from splitting it out to season ticket prices and walk-on prices.

I answered prices were good, because as a season ticket holder I think they’re more than reasonable. However, I think walk-on prices are on the high side.

I think our ticket prices are reasonable, certainly inline with what most clubs charge, exceptional value if you get a season ticket.

It was matchday ticket prices that were mentioned. I know plenty who won't go on because of the cost of them.

Match day not season tickets.

There are plenty of reasonable priced match day tickets, we are no more expensive than going to watch any other team at our level

What issue? We sell most of our tickets. And imagine we will have the clamber for tickets again when we go back up.

Did we sell most of the matchday tickets for the two recent midweek games, when it looked like there were about 12,000 in the ground?

If this messageboard is used as a yardstick, people weren't going. We have more season tickets than that.

Anyways, let's not derail the thread and the good work these lads are trying to start doing

Fine, but I can't understand why anyone would think our matchday tickets and catering prices are well priced, nor do I personally know anyone who does.

Our catering prices are on par if not cheaper than lots of places.

Of course everyone would like them cheaper, but they are market rate, can't expect them to give stuff away for peanuts.

Extortionate compared to what? Wetherspoons? Or other football stadiums and entertainment venues? It's cheaper for refreshments than it is at the cinema in Burnley.

It's not like there's a great selection either though. It's proper tinpot. That's why I give it a swerve these days.

It's because of attitudes like this that prices will never be lowered.

The matchday ticket prices are fine, STs are very well priced.

Food and drink prices are ok but the choice is terrible. clitheroe FC has a far better offering.

It's not at all. It's just an easy thing to take a swipe at.

Nobody moans about the park view putting prices up to nearly a fiver a pint on match days, or the butty van outside charging £5 for chips and gravy, or haffners charging £6.50 for pie and peas in the fan zone. It's always aimed at the club.

It's an entertainment venue, you'll pay a hell of a lot more at Manchester arena for example. I'm not saying it's not expensive, I'm saying it's on par for that type of setting.

It's an optional service, if you don't like the prices take a supermarket bought pie in your pocket

They seem to sell out of a lot of items so something is working

Not really, I'm very much in control of my own destiny. If there's something I want at a price I can stomach, I'll go for it. Just like anything else in life, nobody is holding a gun to my head.

Until people stop paying the prices, they ain't going to change.

No one has joined this group, it’s a collection of supporters who have volunteered to help set it up, including myself. I believe some are members of other supporters clubs and others not but it’s not in any way relevant.

I stuck my nose in, as you would expect. I didn’t know some of the people who are now involved but I’m been hugely impressed with those who have made the offers. I’ll be taking an active, formal role on an interim basis when it launches but that will be until an AGM can be arranged to make things formal.
