Player hits & misses

Post by Tackler49 » Wed Mar 05, 2025 12:22 am

Tonight Esteve could not control Salech (who could have had a hat trick) but he did score his first goal for us but my question is why will he asked to play 3 games in a week, surely he is a key member of our team and needs protection. Hannibal had a good first half but did little after did SP rein him in to the point where he became ineffective. People say Flemming didn’t get involved but where was Edward’s tonight! Again tonight i believe SP got his tactics & substitutions wrong. Surely we are a far better team when he lets the handbrake off, it doesn’t matter if we win 4/3, 3/2 now it needs to be the 3points every match that matters

By your own definition, he seems to have 'got it right' 5 out of the last 6 league games.

The only problem last night was not taking one of our many clear cut chances to finish the match off. The blinkered ref played a part as well.
When you don't take the game away from the opposition, you are always going to invite pressure on yourself late on.

My only criticism would be its fine to sit back and hold onto the lead for the last 5-10mins, but half an hour is too long, and far too nervy.

A far better team than 5 wins in 6 games?

Far better?

Really?

Really?

But it seems it does matter if we win 2-1. Utterly bizarre post!

I don't think he got the substitutions wrong. I think they were necessary after I think he panicked when they had a break away around 60 minutes when we'd had several moments to put the game to bed.

From a supporter point of view it's frustrating, but yet again he saw out a game we were winning. It's still only 2 points dropped from winning positions all season if I remember rightly. His game management is bang on, even if it's not pretty.

And how has Esteve played three games in a week? We’ve only had three games in the last eleven days.

I'll let you into a secret. Sometimes they make him train as well! Not only the imposition of playing a midweek game, which I know players have done in the past but which Esteve is apparently struggling with, but training on top! Has any player been so put upon! :)

The post said Esteve WILL play three games in a week NOT HAS played thee games in a week. In the previous cup match CJ was subbed at h/time and Steve came on so why did SP not do the same on Saturday

I think Fleming and particularly Foster can take a leaf out of Josh Brownhill's book. He seems to be in the right place at the right time which makes the chances he is getting relatively easy, hence his 11 goals from midfield. A classic case of Edwards driving it low across the goal and no one near. If we take our chances in the next 11 or so games we will gain a significant points tally

Thanks dougcollins it’s frustrating when people don’t read posts properly before making mocking comments

I think there is concern amongst some Burnley fans that Parker has coached the attacking flair out of Edwards already after seeing his performance Tuesday night

And even then, it isn't accurate. He might play 3 games in 8 days, but 8 days is longer than a week.

He played against Preston, played last night and will probably play against Luton and WBA.

That's 4 games in 11 days....... 3 in 7..... If he plays against Swansea that's 5 games in 14 days.

Ash Barnes should have got on for Flemming not Foster and Benny on last 15 mins but we rode our luck which us what successful teams do.A very good win at a ground we were often come unstuck.

Need to check your maths Saturday to Saturday is 8 days ,it’s manager speak when they say they’ve play 3 games in a week unless they play Sunday ,midweek then Saturday.

We've had this before. If I have breakfast on Saturday and I have breakfast on Sunday, I have had breakfast twice in two days, not twice in one day.

People talk about "three games in a week" as if it is out of the ordinary, when all they mean is that they played a midweek game between two weekends. It isn't unusual.

I am pleased we are winning and all the players locked together, as a team. Fingers crossed we carty on winning, until the end of the season. Then we may be able to celebrate.
