Woke up to the news that seminal guitarist with The Damned and Lords of the New Church has sadly passed away aged 70.A Punk icon and was where it all started famously penning New Rose the first Punk single to be released

RIP Brian.

The first band I ever seen live at Blackburn King George's Hall in 1979.

I didn't know that. I think i was only 13. The Ruts were amazing BTW. It was Vanian, Sensible and Scabies. Who was the guitarist?

Algy Ward was the bassist The Captain had stepped up to the guitar

Wrote arguably the first ever punk record - 'New Rose'.

I saw him play with The Damned, my mate hired them for £300. A fortune then.

We're losing too many.
