He leaves twitter after ranting. I think a fan has quoted pages of him on another social media outlet.
Re: Andy Holt - Accy Stanley
Didn't they build the function rooms without proper planning application?
However a few neighbours complaining about noise shouldn't be enough to close the place down. Hope they are proud of themselves, hopefully get hounded out of the area

Re: Andy Holt - Accy Stanley
The issues regarding noise have been going on for a while now.
And referring to the council as "sh1thouses," "liars," and "lousy" would suggest that
a sizeable gulf exists between the two parties.
Lots of people will be disappointed and inconvenienced by their function Venue
closing. It's a pity.

Accrington Town Hall are currently advertising for local football clubs to have their presentation nights there.
Which isn't going down well at Stanley.

Andy Holt has got Stanley punching massively above their weight. I don't think he will be fully appreciated until he's gone.

Re: Andy Holt - Accy Stanley
What’s the purpose or benefit of Holt’s now regular rants against various individuals or organisations his football club rely on?
I’m pretty sure Accrington Stanley don’t benefit from him seemingly having poor working relationships with lots of people.

Re: Andy Holt - Accy Stanley
Hyndburn council do not support their local team and I think Andy Holt is right. Money has been thrown at regeneration projects whilst town centre shops fail and the apathy towards Accrington Stanley from the council has been going on for many years.
They half heartedly had a poster campaign a couple of years back promoting 'Amazing' Accrington.
The shop near wetherspoons has a sign in the window saying 'Amusing Accrington-it’s a f****ing joke'
Sums it up for me.

The one good thing Andy Holt did do was tell Blackburn Rovers community group to stay out of their area when approaching schools with free tickets.
Blackburn had kids from Barrowford primary and Bacup St Mary's there on free tickets this week.
Sort it out Mr Pace. Don't let them in our catchment areas.

Forced out of their own homes because they contacted their local authority about a noise complaint? The stuff you read on here, eh.

The famous (or infamous) headmistress at Barrowford is a Bastards fan. Her daughter though is a Clarets season ticket holder.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Tue Mar 18, 2025 9:07 amThe one good thing Andy Holt did do was tell Blackburn Rovers community group to stay out of their area when approaching schools with free tickets.

The amount of personal Money he has put in for the council to do what they have done... and it's not just Hyndburn is disgraceful ...
He's right about Accrrington ... they council have destroyed it through years and years of neglect and refusing to diversify
Accy Stanley could be the life blood of that town like ours is but on a smaller scale ....

Re: Andy Holt - Accy Stanley
Accrington used to be the most vibrant of all East Lancashire’s market towns, the rot started in the late 80’s when the council decided on a vanity project - the now virtually desiccate ‘Arndale centre’ robbing the the town of two large car parks and a vibrant large Victorian market (one of similar construction is now owned by English heritage in Norwich) which attracted shoppers from throughout east Lancs on market days. At the same time they introduced a one way system that kept you from reaching the town centre and offered no substantial parking within walking distance.
Just before COVID the council sold off the largest car park (the Arndale) to a private car park company with the bate of one hour free parking (and extortionate rates after one hour)… leading to major stores like Marks and Spencer pulling out of the town. They now have a pedestrian zone through the centre with no pedestrians and no reason to go there, unless you want a pound shop, tattoo or your nails done…
They then spent a few million updating the front of the Town Hall making it a lovely meeting place if you ignored the decay all around it, then stuck a port a cabin market on it that looks like it was sourced in the former Soviet Union, blocking the view of one of the towns few assets - the remaining grand Victorian architecture, the town hall and buildings above the kebab shops and ‘hair salons’
I used to visit Accrington town centre two or three times a week, even after moving to Rossendale and even when I moved to Read; I now live in Oswaldtwistle down the road and cannot remember the last time I ‘went into town’ for anything… what on earth for? is the question most asked when anyone mentions a visit.
It is not hard to have the deepest sympathy for Andy Holt - he is far from alone believing Hyndburn Borough Council are a joke the people of the town have paid a very heavy price for.

Re: Andy Holt - Accy Stanley
I'm not local so don't know the ins and outs of Hyndburn Council, they sound rubbish. If that is the case why do they keep getting elected?
People easily forget that we live in a democracy, and that they have a voice over how they are run. Most authorities have very little engagement with the public, and the turnout at local elections is normally so low, that if a body came up with a reasonable, viable alternative, it should be fairly simple to vote out a council that isn't working.
Is Accrington just a small part of a much larger area?

Yeah, the turnout is around a third of the electorate for local elections.
Hyndburn Council has been poor for years, no matter which party has been charge (it's been both Tory and Labour over the years), and like people have said on this thread, you only have to look at the state of Accy town centre.

Re: Andy Holt - Accy Stanley
Hyndburn includes Oswaldtwistle which although only a village is one of the largest rural parishes in England. Very little engagement in/from the local population these days. Cheap properties have led to local money leaving the area. You are as likely to hear Manc, Cockney, Scots, Irish, Southern drawl as Lancastrian accents. More likely to hear Eastern European. Counter intuitively many of the Asian population are more likely to be Lancashire folk than the white population as they are often third and forth generation.Colburn_Claret wrote: ↑Tue Mar 18, 2025 3:05 pmI'm not local so don't know the ins and outs of Hyndburn Council, they sound rubbish. Doesn't work like that sadly..Rawtenstsll Cricket Club were forced to stop using their tannoy system,.which was only ever used to announce an incoming batsman etc, because of complaints from the apartments in the mill across from the ground. That mill had been a derelict eyesore for decades.
Funny,.but all those same people are out watching the fireworks display for free on their balconies every November, and don't seem to mind the noise which is ten times greater than any cricket game ever produced...

Although I haven’t lived in Burnley for 15 years, I get the feeling the council are aware that if the club thrives the town thrives.
When we first got to the prem, although only a fleeting visit, it felt like the whole town grew 10 feet tall with pride.
Burnley as a town benefits from the club doing well. Global exposure of years in the prem. Tourists visiting the town for the football.
The town to turf thing is a prime example.

I do wonder why these councils don’t do their upmost to protect the grand Victorian civic buildings and mills.
Look at Halifax. Im not saying it’s an oasis, but they have done their best to protect the heritage of the town and it benefits massively from this
