A special day for Billy. Sadly he has been recently diagnosed with early dementia. He loved today and especially speaking at half time. Always said he should have written a book on his time at Burnley!

The club and especially Veronica were superb today and a day his grandchildren won’t forget.

He was my favourite player in my first "proper" season 1977-78, the Anglo Scottish Cup season.

If I'm not mistaken I think he won Player of the Year that season if CT can kindly clarify?

A solid Rolls Royce of a centre half with big Jim Thomson next to him, was moved into midfield on his return.

CJ Egan Riley does remind me of him in certain aspects of his game.

Ian Brennan scored. Billy said today one of his favourite memories as his family watching were split Everton and Liverpool fans!

Me and your dad were there that night. A great memory for us and we often mention the moment in the game where a dangerous cross came into our box at the Kop end. Billy, only 18, possibly 19 then didn't clear it. He brought the ball down on his chest, dropped a shoulder as if to clear it, the Liverpool forwards fell for it and he just rolled it back to Alan Stevenson to pick up. It was majestic and I think the Liverpool fans might have thought they had lost one of their own to a rival. Great feeling today when Bill said we are 'a brilliant club' and there was spontaneous applause around the ground. How good must he have been when he captained Liverpool Schoolboys from midfield as a 15 year old? Let us know next time he's at yours because I've had some great chats with him in the past. The story involving Alan Ball and Billy Ingham is bloody priceless. Keep at it, Bill. An absolute diamond and a gentleman.

He coached on a weeks summer school at colne sports centre when I was maybe 12 or 13. Got the ball in my face early on from a free kick and I curled up in a ball crying frankly wanting to go home. Picked me up, had a quiet word in my ear and then looked out for me, and made sure he made a fuss of everything I did well for the rest of the week. I would have walked through walls for him so I can’t imagine what it must have been like playing with him as a professional. Ultimate respect from me.

I think Billy also played for England Schoolboys Under 15 Schoolboys in the days when they played at Wembley Stadium in front of large crowds.

An outstanding player in his younger years. I have just googled him. Didn't realise he had an unbroken ten years at Turf Moor. Very sad to hear of his dementia.

Fantastic chap is Billy. He got my dad in at Halifax Town as a fitness trainer, when he was the assistant manager there back in the 90s. I spent a fair bit of time around him as a kid as result, and he's a proper gentleman.

There's Billy stood at one end of the middle, and my dad is at the other end next to the late George Mulhall.

If the club are listening it would great for the ex player and the fans if a minute or so highlights of the player’s time at Burnley was shown on the big screen. That could be them personally or a big match they were involved in. This could be done before the interview.

I was told a while ago that he had been diagnosed with early dementia and I’m saddened by that. Although I’ve not seen him in years, I spoke to him last year. I’d phoned Colin Waldron to pass on the sad news of Taffy’s passing and he was with some of his old team mates including Billy who he put on the phone.

One little fact on him is that when he came back for that 1986/87 season he became the first Burnley player to have played for us in all four divisions. Joe Jakub is the only other player to have achieved that.

Absolutely. A few of us sat together in Bob Lord, all said same. We couldn’t decipher a single word, and it was even suggested that sub-titles should be put up on the screen. An embarrassing 2 minutes, and an insult to a very good ex player. Come on BFC, get this PA system sorted.

In the mid 70s there was a 'meet the players' do at the Centre Spot. if memory serves only two players turned up. One of them was Billy Rodaway, who I had a chat with, and told him about how impressed the Liverpool fans were with his classy performance in our 1-0 win at Anfield. The story of the players not showing up hit the local paper's headlines the following day.

When will the club sort this long standing problem out. I’d as Alan Pace to come into the longside lower where I sit and try and hear what’s being said but I realise he’ll be too busy tucking into his prawn sandwiches.

I believe Joe Jakub holds or held the record for the longest gap between Clarets debut & 1st league goal. His 1st appearance was against Coventry on 24 April 1976, but he failed to score until he returned for a 2nd spell in 1989, with his 1st goal coming at Doncaster on 21 October 1989, a gap just short of 13 years & 6 months. He finished that 2nd spell with 10 league goals. Without checking I think that record probably stands.

Burnley FC let’s make the right kind of noise not just triple echo hyperbole, from an amateur announcer used to the sound of his own voice while using a public toilet. Next time lock yourself in there without a radio mike.

When I lived in Liverpool a few years ago, I pulled up to a petrol station in Netherley. In the back of the car window was a mini Burnley shirt, in which I got a knock on the drivers window as I was about to set off, to which it was Billy..

To say he was delighted to see a Burnley fan would be an understatement..

He just spoke non stop about his love for the club and his time with us.. I was gutted we had to end the conversation due to the backlog of cars wanting petrol!

I just remember going home thinking it was an absolute pleasure speaking to him..

He played at a time in his first spell when the players mixed more than they’ve ever done at Burnley. But even in more recent years the players really enjoyed the Supporters Groups player of the year evening which gave them that opportunity.

It would be easier to hear the PA if they turned the Bob Lord speakers Off!!! Surely someone can sort this out without it costing hardly anything. First rule using a mic, don’t SHOUT into it.
