Dr Kildare RIP
Richard Chamberlain has died aged 90. I doubt many of us will remember him as Dr Kildare.

In the Towering Inferno too, and the Thorn Birds.
Re: Dr Kildare RIP
I think he sang the theme tune for Dr Kildare too. William Shatner was originally offered the role but he turned it down.

Played the lead role the first time Shogun was done as a mini series. Was excellent as well.

RIP Richard. As above a long mainly tv career. Also The Count of Monte Cristo in a very good 70s version with Kate Nelligan.

The theme tune to Dr Kildare by the Johnny Spence Orchestra was on the radio just after midday today. Perhaps it was as a tribute to Richard Chamberlain.

great theme tune and the picture froze several times during its playing over the opening sequence!
RIP RC!

Yep, used to watch that sometimes, IIRC ‘MAD’ magazine used to run a parody comic strip called Dr Darekill.

I remember him best for playing Tchaikovsky in Ken Russell’s much maligned, but in my view brilliant, biopic “ The Music Lovers “.
