Re: Derby v Burnley - Player Ratings
Trafford- 8. Massive save in the first half
Roberts- 7. Stood up to the challenge well
CJ- 7 as above, but his long passing was a bit off compared to his usual standards
Esteve- 8. Stood up to the challenge and did well to get back in against a lively Yates
Pires- 7. Some good touches again but misjudged a couple of headers in the first half
Cullen- 8. Battled all game
Laurent- 7. Usual busy self
Brownhill- 5. Non existent, but will be slapped all over the socials as per
Edwards- 5. Poor by his standards
Flemming- 5. Bullied by their centre half trio
Anthony- 6. Good first half. Not so good second half
Foster- na
Hannibal- 6. Gave us a bit of energy that we were crying out for
Barnes- 6
Just played into their hands playing the ball onto the centre backs all game

Point gained...gritty performance given that we simply lack the grunt and haven't the personnel for these free-for-all slugfests. About as enjoyable to watch as Cumberland wrestling.
We're currently winning the square root of bugger-all in the air..including in our own 6 yard box...maybe there's an argument for the inclusion of Worral in a back three for these sh1tty scraps.

Re: Derby v Burnley - Player Ratings
Fair play to Eustace, he’s together some rancid teams that play really crap percentage football and this not are no exception. Add a disgrace of a pitch and this was always going to be a tricky game. We did ok, had a couple of decent chances and defended their set pieces well so it’s a good point that’s keeps us where we need to be.
Trafford 8 one v good save and punched it well under pressure
Roberts 7 sound
Egan-Riley 7 the long cross fielders weren’t quite hitting the mark tonight
Esteve 8 standard
Pires 7 fine running up and down the furrows
Cullen 7 metronome
Laurent 6 put in a top block but a bit of an in out game for him
Brownhill 6 in and out a bit like Laurent
Edwards 5 a bit off it tonight
Anthony 6 usual high work rate but not much happening going forward
Flemming 7 did well tonight, probably should have had one, could have had a couple. Will be a bigger miss now against Millwall with Foster out, could do with getting things done and dusted before then.
Plenty to do yet but plenty of games to do it in. We’re very well placed still.

A predictably meh game on a pig of a pitch, with top of the table nerves showing and with Eustace doing his usual Pulis style antics. Add a ref who allows a bit of WWF (unless we do it) and a terrible injury to the ever unlucky Lyle and I’d snatch hands off for a point, so it is well done we got it.
The defence were a bit wobbly when put under the pump but stuck to it and got the clean sheet so all deserve 7s. Of the attackers Flemming and Anthony were the pick, albeit Flemming remains terrible at winning free kicks,
Hoping desperately we don’t run out of attackers, it is where we didn’t need a bad injury.

We weren't close to our recent standards.
Tough game, against some tough decisions by the ref, on a tough pitch.
A point won.

Subs all 5 (especially Hannibal who lost his man from the late free kick and could have seriously cost us!)
After the first 30 minutes of great football when we really should have got ourselves a lead we allowed a clearly uninspired Derby a foothold in the match and then proceeded to fall to their level! In the end a draw was fair as both teams looked scared of trying to win. Ultimately it could end up as a very, very valuable point on an evening when we really didn't play that well. We'll see in time, especially as Sheff U dropped 3 more!!!

Fair play to Eustace, a bit like Danny Rohl in that he’s got a League One side getting good results in the Championship. Let’s not get precious about their tactics, there’s more than one way to play football. Some of the long balls from their keeper were unreal.
Anyway, good to come back to Earth after folk were booking open top buses after a win at Coventry. It’s going to the wire.

Re: Derby v Burnley - Player Ratings
Trafford 7 - Coped well with standing on sand for 90 mins and their efforts to bombard his box.
Roberts 6 - Fine defensively, but wasn’t able to get forward quite as much as usual.
Pires 6 - Struggled a few times with the physicality of their “wing back”, but some standout moment of class too.
Esteve 8 - Did well against the aerial bombardment and efforts to turn our defence.
Egan-Riley 7- Not as effective in possession as usual, but sound defensively.
Cullen 8 - Kicked all over the pitch, but thought he was excellent on tough pitch.
Brownhill 5 - Never really able to impose himself.
Laurent - See Brownhill. Struggled with the pitch.
Edwards 5 - Played on sand and often doubled-up on. They didn’t let him get going.
Anthony 6 - Marginally better than Edwards.
Flemming 6 - Started brightly, but faded and looked isolated.

Re: Derby v Burnley - Player Ratings
A frustrating night but it's one more point gained.
Trafford- 7 - one excellent save and stood up to the bombardment well enough.
Roberts - 6 - defensively fine but his passing and attacking play wasn't as slick as it can be.
Pires - 7 - a couple of slightly nervy headers but overall he competed well defensively in a game alien to what he'll have been brought up with, and his forward passing on a dodgy pitch was excellent.
Egan-Riley- 7 - solid although they ran off him a couple of times.
Esteve- 8 - showed what he's about.
Cullen - 7 - improvised well in the middle of the desert.
Laurent - 6 - one good block but in and out
Brownhill - played in fits and starts
Edwards - 5 - lively for 20 minutes and then not a feature
Anthony- 5 - as Edwards
Flemming- 6 - battled well with relatively little supply. Did brilliantly to create a chance for himself first half although having done the hard part he might feel he should have finished it.
Hannibal - 6 - OK, but having rightly gone 2 up top when Foster came on it was a bit of a surprise he replaced Foster rather than one of the attacking options, and it didn't quite work.
Foster - all eyes on the medical prognosis because it'd be a big blow if he's out for the season.
There's more grass on the Copacabana than on that pitch, and that and Derby's rugged tactics and will to win was always likely to make for a difficult game to both win and watch. We did well for 30 minutes but couldn't sustain it and we didn't do enough to occupy their 3 centre backs for long periods.
That said, if we win on Friday we'll be incredibly well placed, give or take the potential injury to Foster that may turn out to be a real blow (particularly given Flemming's unavailability on the final day).

Re: Derby v Burnley - Player Ratings
Only time will tell whether it was a point gained or two lost. One think for certain is that we looked weary and that concerns me.

Esteve 8
Pires 6
Cullen 8*-Toss up for my MOTM but I give it to JC because he was the only one in midfield playing to his potential imo.

Re: Derby v Burnley - Player Ratings
From tv
Trafford 7 one great save which kept a clean sheet
Roberts CJ 8 they tried to exploit their height and strength in attack but he was up to it
Esteve 8 mom, same as CJ
Pires 7 had to work defensively
Laurent 4 our weak link in midfield
Cullen 8 our best and only midfielder
Brownhill 6 another of his “gone missing “ games
Edwards 5 okay until they started the rough stuff, then he didn’t want to know
Flemming 7 our only forward player who looked like scoring
Anthony 5 back to his previous form, good for 30 minutes then invisible. Another one who can’t handle the physicality of the game.
Unfortunately we don’t have a forward line who can handle the rough and tumble of physical opponents. Our first 30 minutes was okay then they turned up the heat with strong tackling (which the awful ref didn’t seem to notice), which we simply can’t handle and it was left to our defence to pull us through. When the clock got to 70 mins I was hoping for a point, not three. Still it is a point gained over the blades. I hope Foster’s injury isn’t too serious but it didn’t look good. We need two new strikers for next season, whatever division we are in.
