Hannibal

Can't. Fault this quote off the Sheffield Utd Forum

This was a game we had to win and where was the energy or desire? Hannibal was more determined than our team put together.

I think Sir Barnes has had a lot to do with making Fleming and Hannibal the all round dark art players they have become.

His commitment has never been in question. His talent and his temperament I was rather less sure of. But the lad is maturing and just maybe he'll show he's the player Man U thought he was. He's been excellent recently.

Fantastic today. Really, really good. The way he kept calm despite the amount of provocation and dirty play on him was a pleasure to watch. Long may that version of him continue.

If he stays for a few years he’ll replace Barnes as the cult hero.

Only Steve (not including Barnes) will be a cult hero in this side.

As long as he learns that this isn't his role as a footballer. If he can keep progressing his movement and technical skills then he'll be a successful player in many teams. If not, he'll just be a pantomine villain who'll only play up to the crowds. Don't get sucked in, Hannibal.

Excellent today. Made the game look easy.

I think he's a mixed bag mentally. Think he's gained in self-confidence and is showing how well he can play.

Avoided all confrontation today as he has done, by and large, since the infamous Stoke match.

Now that he has got his temper under control, he is a real asset. He has very fast feet and boundless energy. Moves the ball quickly. He definitely improves us as a side.
Not sure, however, that putting him out on the right wing when Edward’s comes off is the right move.

I’m liking the way he seems to have really got his discipline together by not reacting to the obvious stick a player like him will always get . He’s an absolute cheat for sure , but his dark arts are literally Barnes-esque and if he could improve his game a bit more , could be an absolute star . No idea what his contract is though ? Presume he was/is a standard loan as opposed to an “ option obligation “ deal .

He’s no longer the hot head he was last Autumn. Whether SP or the players have educated him doesn’t matter the improvement has been a joy to watch. He has been even smarter since the thug abused him.
Added a wrinkle to his game last night, one I like. When we had attacking throw ins down the right he stood by the corner flag. If they don’t mark him throw him the ball, if they do nobody else can be offside and it opens up avenues.

Hannibal was my MOM, as he epitomised the desire the whole team had, to win, yesterday. Esteve gor a 10 and Hannibal a 9, however, Hannibal ran at everything and also showed immense skill at times.

He had a good game yesterday and kept his cool, except for getting in the ref's face a couple of times when he'd been fouled. Thgen he clapped the ref when he finally got a decision right. Players have been booked for less.

Reading all these, justifiable, comments on how Hannibal has managed to contain his emotions and concentrate on his football, and a sudden thought occurred to me. How would Hannibal have performed on Monday if he was wearing a blades shirt. The way Wilder apparently has his whole squad wound up and spitting their dummies, I doubt he would have stayed on the pitch to halftime.
A lot of credit to SP and his staff for helping Hannibal find this best version of himself. Playing like Monday and he is a massive asset going forward.

We've got a couple of Blades fans in our village local, I've seen one of them twice since the game and he's still yarping on about how much of a cheat Hannibal is, rolling around and falling over at the slightest touch.
As I pointed out , Sheff U were outplayed - just - and out thought - massively.
Wilder came with the intention of his lads stopping us , harassing us and dragging us down into a scrap.
As it turned out, they spent most of their time going after Hannibal and he absolutely loved it while we, especially in the second half, ran the show
I'm wondering how long this Blade's bitterness will last.
The other lad's a complete knob, I hope he's in tomorrow night.

Long may it continue! It’s great to have a player that gets under the opposition’s skin and is very talented too! As for Sheff U I just think of them as the Birmingham City of the North. Can’t see them winning the play offs

Great tactical play from SP to help Roberts out when they brought Rak-Sakyi on was the right move though

Didn't Rak-Sakyi play on their right ... so was up against Pires?

You might be right but whoever it was then. Point being that Hannibal was moved after they swapped one striker for 2
