True. I remember joining the multitude on the pitch, after the Orient game. Didn't want to leave.
Scunthorpe the last time I was on the pitch after a game ... didn't go on at Charlton stayed in our seats

Upper tier at TM a bit of a climb to be bothered 🤣 and at 66 (nearly 67) a step to far these days 🤣

Scunthorpe for me too, healing broken ankle and long drop from Bob Lord somehow seemed a step too far yesterday, literally:)

Only been on the pitch once at the end of the 91/92 season.

I was spotted by Ian Measham's wife, who was a colleague at the time, and ended up on the receiving end of a light hearted lecture from her the day after 🙃

Amazing video of Scott delivering a speech to the players after the final whistle. The players arent waiting around for the pitch to be cleared, they are celebrating with friends/colleagues who they've been through it with all season. You can hear the Ben Mee song in the back ground.

Yeh, my last one was Scunthorpe too, but from the home end.

Monday was a very rare event - a home promotion versus our closest rivals for 2nd. It was always going to end in tears and aggro. Blades players would know that. Pitch invasions are normally respectful but when it’s the side you’ve beaten to 2nd it will always have an edge. Just one of those things, accept it, move on.

Players getting triggered are also quite rare, they really did lose the plot in the last 2 weeks. Be graceful losers, smile and clap, and virtually all fans would respect that and may even just shake their hand as they leave.

Been on pitch twice after a game. Orient survival game and winning the league at Charlton, the home fans came on the pitch and applauded us.
Also had the pleasure of playing on Turf Moor twice.

I’d say if you take any kind of offence to a pitch invasion following promotion after a tightly contested promotion race in a game against one of you rivals, football really isn’t for you.

I’ve seen a vid on FB, sadly from the Jimmy Mac so distant, but two individuals have hands on Choudhury and he is struggling, whether it is to get away or fight back is hard to tell. I can fully understand his anger. Nobody should cross the white lines in either direction.
Hopefully in these days of folk videoing everything there is footage made available to the correct authorities.
The video was on Turfcast page.

I don't mind a pitch invasion if it's in good spirits, but any Sheffield United player being harassed verbally or physically is just pathetic. Enjoy the victory with our players fine, all you have to do is avoid being an absolute tool. Sadly that's beyond some Burnley (or any other club's) fans.

Another box ticking exercise.
They were warned a few years ago about pitch invaders so just put an over the top amount of warnings on the screen and PA.

They’ll say they are doing a lot here to satisfy the Football League. In reality it wont be much.

That really is ridiculous. I don't go on the pitch but it's a tradition going back many years. Ban the ones who caused the damage then move on.

Never read so much bull-juice from the Club.

Miss. Big miss. They’re not reading the room.

Fortunately it seems like most fans are jumping on this and rightly so. Pitch invasions are part of promotion. End of.

Don’t worry about the tiny minority. They’re the same ones who tut at the guy doing 31 in a 30.

Do you not think the club have no option but to release a statement with the police and FA breathing down their necks

There’s an overlap in this conversation on the FAB thread, where I’ve posted this

I think some people are completely missing the point.

We all know it’s “wrong” to invade the pitch in celebration but agree it will happen when events such as promotion/champions occur.

The issue really isn’t the invasion, it’s the behaviour of those towards the opposition players & staff, along with the damage caused to expensive equipment.

If those 2 issues hadn’t happened, then yes the club would still have put out a statement today “don’t enter the pitch” but the tone would have been completely different, with it being without the “we will find you and make you pay” element

So I presume the club put up a drone to fly above Turf Moor at the final whistle to film an empty field with no scenes of celebration on the pitch?

There was a guy giving Choudhury a bit of grief but it was when the steward and team-mate tried to get Choudhury off the pitch that he reacted violently and continued to do so right until he was pushed down the tunnel by 2 or 3 SU players.

The supporter was arrested and cuffed right in front of the CF and led away by 2 cops, he went quietly with resignation rather than anger.

From the videos I've seen every player had a security person with them quicker than even those sprinting onto the pitch could get there. They may not have wanted a pitch invasion but had clearly planned for it happening.

I think you should get a stadium ban and be made to pay for the damage done to the leds etc. Its you who is not reading the room.

People saying its always been done we did it in 74 and 80s , things in life change and we have to change with it.in 1991 it became law not to do so, if you do go on without a lawful reason then accept the consequences.

What people do not think of is if someone is hurt, by your actions then you can end up in prison, if a football player hits you you could go to prison. The club can if you do damage to property whilst committing a criminal act can seek for the costs.

With all the cameras around now they can prove you were there.

It annoys me when people say it doesn't do any harm. I remember after the last game of the Kompany promotion season, we were in the lower Longside with our 9 year old grandson. He was knocked flying by yobs pushing past to run on the pitch after the Cardiff game. Luckily he was ok, but he was knocked over and, if he had hit his head, it could have been very serious.

Believe the club are looking to trawl back through footage of previous pitch invasions as there is still an outstanding debt to Multipart after one of their advertising boards was damaged in 1987.

Club have put themselves in a real corner here.

Those who were violent to Sheffield, fine, let the police punish them. Those who deliberately damaged hoardings, do the same (but don’t make daft comments about suing people for huge sums who are likely to be out of work and on benefits - in any event it wouldn’t work because they were trampled on by hundreds so who is to say who damaged them).

But those who simply joyfully ran on, to threaten to ban them now, using CCTV, that is hardly what a community club should do. Many were just kids.

People comment that Brownhill and Hannibal were climbing on hoardings at Watford. Which is of course technically not a player area. Nor when players go into the crowd. Where does it end?

Then, on the pitch, it isn’t just “officials” - it is also hangers on and family members. They have no right to be on the pitch either. Cannot really be so self righteous when bending the rules for your own.

The classy thing to do here is simply play it down, prosecute the real “bad uns”:and leave the rest rather than threatening them during a rare moment of glory.

Or alternatively, don't go on the pitch if you're not good enough to play on it. That way you definitely won't be looking at a ban.

In any normal persons view that is exactly what they should do for the protection of the club and its fans . You need to take a hard look at your self its illegal to go on!!!!

I’d say if you take any kind of offence to a pitch invasion following promotion after a tightly contested promotion race in a game against one of you rivals, football really isn’t for you.
I find your comments offensive to genuine Burnley Football fan, guess you are not a football fan

Who knew, after 60 odd years following Burnley, travelling thousands of miles, spending tens of thousands of pounds etc etc apparently footballs not for me because I object to idiots breaking the law

I mean the messaging during the game, verbal and visual was quite clear. Don’t do it.

The cricket field is an accident waiting to happen, hoards pushing through a few small gates, a big drop, camera crew etc beneath and the advertising boards. Add in the players tunnel being right there, you can’t say that’s “safe” can you really.

Or alternatively, don't go on the pitch if you're not good enough to play on it. That way you definitely won't be looking at a ban.
So that includes the players wives and families? Or the multitude of backroom analysts?

Club have put themselves in a real corner here.

Those who were violent to Sheffield, fine, let the police punish them. Those who deliberately damaged hoardings, do the same (but don’t make daft comments about suing people for huge sums who are likely to be out of work and on benefits
About 1 in 5 people in Burnley are in out-of-work benefits. Is there really a high percentage of people who are on benefits and can afford to go on the football?

Unfortunately it was a display of Chav imbeciles not reading the room or listening to all the very clear club messages. They must have been asked to clear the pitch 20 times plus.
These people need to realise Its a new football environment after a number of pitch invasions which have turned sour resulting in abuse and violence They ended with police charges and court cases- ask a few Forest fans.
