Millwall

Post by Bob Lorder » Sun Apr 27, 2025 8:01 am

Just had a look on one of their forums, could be a lively one ..

R.O.D said:
Got a feeling if we beat Swansea this weekend, then that game at Burnley aint going to end well.
Are their seats safely secured?
They'll be running on the pitch at the end and no doubt will head straight to the away section

We've been allocated 1900 tickets so good luck to them, they'll need it!

Millwall away, despite the result was absolutely fine. Beers in the home fanzone etc..

Won’t be a problem.

I assume we will have stewards in place for our end of match trophy celebrations ?We know where the fools come from who run on the pitch and must take precautions unlike the fiasco v Blades

It wouldn't be the first time that Bermondsey's finest have re-arranged the decor in the CFS.

Without that all those QPR fans would have jubilantly flooded onto the pitch in celebration.

I believe the club's wording of the statement about going on the pitch has a lot to do with this game, there will be a big police presence for sure - you shouldn't underestimate the stupidity of a section of Millwall and they are likely to travel.

I know once when they came up in the Championship many years ago when they was trouble at our place a lot got taxis from Preston train station as police wouldn't let them travel to the game on the train as a lot had come up and stopped at Blackpool, just hope it doesn't happen again and spoil the day..

I remember the game against Millwall about 28 years ago at the Turf when I think we were 4-0 up and then they came back and it ended 4-3 to the Clarets.

My Son who was with me was about 13 at the time.
After the game and just before we left the ground I said to him do you want to go for a wee as I am not stopping at any service stations on the way home to Milton Keynes. No Dad he said I'm ok

And what happened!? After driving for about an hour or so my Son said that he was desperate for a wee so I had to stop at one of the service stations.

There was my Son and I wearing our Burnley shirts and who should be coming out of the service station but about 10 young Millwall supporters.

They were feeling proud of themselves as they told us that in our next home game it would be standing room only as no seats left.

I would guess that game against Millwall was in about 1997 give or take a year.

Remember this game ....Paul Cook scored a screamer for us as I recall but we spent the last 5 minutes camped in our own penalty area as they looked to complete the comeback. They must have had something riding on the game as they brought a big following and their fans in the CFS were a bit lively.

It was 2000, Millwall ended up in the play offs.

I'd like Millwall to end up in the play offs but we are on for the title. They messed up against that lot down the road which is probably going to cost them.

I suspect all the threats regarding prosecution of the Sheff United pitch invaders might have been done with the final day in mind. The days when footballers can handle themselves have past (not that they should have to) but the potential for trouble resulting from a repeat against Millwall is all too obvious.

At the end of the day the damage done to the pitch alone (it’s not longer just a matter of getting the roller out of the shed) should have the club looking to stop invasions. The one time I went onto the pitch was Orient, other than that I’ve never really got it… I would much rather the players and officials could thank the fans for their support through the season in clear view to all.

That game in 2000 was the only time they've ever brought any kind of following. Think a few of them tried to get in the Longside lower as well. We still had plenty of "lads" of our own at that time.

Coventry last 10 home games= 8wins and 2 defeats, to Leeds and us.
Boros last 10 away games= 2 wins, 1 draw, 7defeats and defeats to some bottom end sides.
I’ll put my thrupence on Coventry.

I'd spotted that. It must be on police advice. There will be quite a large section of seats between the two sets of fans.

Millwall haven't sold out the initial allocation, they had sold out the ones that had been put on for sale.

They may sell out the 1900 this week but tickets are now back on sale.

Millwall fan here in peace.

Yes, we have to win, and hope that Coventry and Boro draw. If that happens then we’ll finish above them and f**k**g Blackburn! God, I hate Blackburn with a vengeance (always seem to beat us and kept us out of the play offs a couple of seasons back, beating us 4-3 at home - having been 3-1 up at HT). Would dearly love to see them relegated to league 1 next season!

Will we win? There’s a very slim chance that if we can nick a goal we might be able to keep you lot out, as our defence has been fantastic this season. On the plus side it looks like we’ll have Liam Roberts back in goal. As well as George Evans has done recently, Millwall fans will feel more confident having Roberts between the sticks facing your firepower than having a 19 year old reserve goal keeper there.

Don’t worry, I’m pretty confident Roberts won’t be going in high with his foot against any of your players! :D

I hope it’s a good game and I hope we turn up for it. On the one hand I’d love you to pip Leeds for the title (another team we hate) but selfishly I equally want to get into the play offs! I wouldn’t expect to win the play offs if we got there, but it would be a great end to the season for us, considering our manager Alex Neil only joined us on the 1st January this year. Hopefully with the right investment of new players in the summer and a good pre season, I’d like to think we could guarantee ourselves a play off spot next season.

Why isn't Lukas Jensen playing in goal?
